Deck Description

This is my variation on the innistrad starter morbid deck. That was the first deck i started with and i really want to make a new version of it that actually works well.

How to Play

This deck is based around killing any creatures i can, including my own to bring out my big beefies or to just buff up something already out. most the time through using my skellies as block fodder and giving them death touch or sacrificing them for health. the mana costs are high but that is never a problem. i just never have the card in my hand i need and i cant figure out a way to get them when i do need them. Ive tried diabolical tutors, multiple souls of the harvest and harvester of souls, and even was three colors with blue added in for a while but i cant seem to get this deck to work as well as i feel like it should. any help would be appreciated.

Deck discussion for Morbid failure

I love how this deck plays mid game, but in play testing it, I found it very inconsistent at the start of the game and cumbersome towards the end.

Middle of the game there are plenty of things that play off one another. "Disciple of Griselbrand" + "Skirsdag High Priest" were my bread and butter. I love killing my own creatures to activate that creature's effect in addition to getting a stompy demon on the field.

However, frequently my hand was cluttered with very high-cost cards that I never really found use for.

"Avatar of Woe", while it has a great effect that benefits from this deck's play style, should probably be reduced down to one. It takes too long to use and doesn't pay off enough to merit three in the deck. If possible, I'd replace those two with 2 more "Skirsdag High Priest"s

-2 "Avatar of Woe" -> +2 "Skirsdag High Priest"

And if you can bring yourself to do it, I might also suggest the following for what little speed it can provide:
-1 "Avatar of Woe" -> +1"Typhoid Rats"

Thank you for actually trying out this deck and i understand what your saying and i do think that the high priests are really effective but unfortinatly i dont have access to anyone to trade with who has skirsdag high priest if there are any other cards that you would think would work i would like to hear suggestions

In that case even just -3 or -2 "Avatar of Woe" -> +2"Typhoid Rats" is probably a sound move.

It seems to me that some of your high level cards would benefit from having more things to easily die and populate the graveyard, and your deck wouldn't suffer from one less card.

this deck is very inconsistant. i dont have much time right now, but i will give some quick tips and come back a bit later to help out some more. yet, basically your going to swing towards a golgarish concept deck- sac creatures for the benefits and build off your graveyard
- the doomgape. the griselbrand does the same thing and costs alot less
- the gleancrawler. you need things in your graveyard to pump your other creatures and get the avatar out
+ 2 more typhoid rats
- harvester of souls

Maybe take out a Grave Betrayal and replace that with some Boneyard Wurms. They only cost two and with all the killing this deck can do, he can be a sucker to deal with

Also check out my Spirits deck and see how it is under my page :)

okiedoke,a quick edit without switching out alot of stuff and mostly just adding/subtracting things to make the deck more consistant this is what ive got
3 avatar of woe
3 griselbrand
1/2 ghoultree
1 jarad
2 lumberknot
3 onxy mage
2 high priest
2/3 typhoid rats

spells:
2 attrition
3-4 essensce harvest
2-3 killing wave
4 tragic slip
2 guttergrime
3 grave betrayal (this is a personal like, switch it if u want)
4 disentomb
2 jar of eyeballs

didnt really count so you may have to mess with the numbers still, but this would run more consistantly.
like i said you want your creatures in the graveyard to pump up the ones you need, but i added a few grave pulls as a back up.
the key combo you would want to pull off with this set up is to throw out the ghoultree-essence harvest it-then sac it with jarad. = 1 opponent down with that turn. or you could sayyyy killing wave and keep the ghoultree out and if your other opponents wiped their board to save their life, swing with the ghoultree.
if you want to lean more towards the morbid mechanic- i would lean towards creature ramping spells that have the morbid tag like hunger of the howl pack or increasing savagery
