Deck Description

The name? My take on GoodFellas...and If you have to ask, seek help immediately!

A casual play, fun deck that uses a lot of early life gain to maximize Serra Ascendant and Felidar Sovereign. Baneslayer Angel also finds a nice home here. Ruin Ghost can bounce Kabira Crossroads for some extra life gain, and with Admonition Angel can be downright rude!

Deck discussion for GoodFelidars

Nice i really like this. But im curious, why do you run 63 cards in your decks?

IDK, I guess there's a couple reasons. I really like the number 63. I like Numerology. I won't get into the whole thing, sufice it to say I just really like that number. In this modern era of "play" sleeves, most people pile shuffle, in addition to "mash" shuffling, and it so happens that 63 is nicely divisible by 7. Again, I really like the number 7. (part of the whole 63 thing, too...) So, when I pile shuffle, I make 7 piles and it all works out nice and even. It also harkens back to my early days of playing Magic... the Antiquities, Legends, the Dark, etc. era. And back then we all built 20/40, lands/spells. I like the idea of having more mana, but I'm also greedy for those 40 spells! Every once in a while I build to 60. I know that this is THE number. But, I don't play tourneys outside of some FNM. I mostly play for fun. So... 63 is the number i build to. It's funny... no one ever asked me that before! Hope i don't sound too nuts!! :)

If it's only mono white, and you're trying to gain life, why have Arid Mesa/Marsh Flats over 6 more plains? There is no reason to pay for something you could get for free if you aren't running more colors. Also, it wouldn't hurt to look into Celestial Mantle, if you haven't already.

The fetchlands are for the Admonition Angel's & Rest for the Weary's landfall abilities. As for Celestial Mantle, it's a nice card but what would you replace? There's already 6 6CMC spells and one of which, Felidar Sovereign, is a win condition. He should be well on his way to 40 life by the time he casts any 6CMC spell. The other 6CMC spell, Admonition Angel, combined with fetchlands and Ruin Ghost provide (2-3 triggers a turn) awesome board control!
I wouldn't change a thing but I do like 2x Ranger of Eos to fetch your Serra Ascendant's. I'd drop 2x Baneslayers.

My esteemed colleague, the great and omniscient Nyz is of course 100% correct! There is also one other reason I run those fetch-lands. It thins the deck of mana, increasing the odds of drawing a relevant spell later in the game. And, as my man pointed out, early game it ensures a landfall for Rest for the Weary. Result: -1 for the fetch, +8 for a 2 CMC spell. Net gain...+7. I'll do that trade all day! And with Admonition Angel, well... it's almost unfair to even be allowed to have fetch-lands! So, again, I'll trade 1 life to exile your annoying...whatever, all day long! As for the Ranger of Eos, I might consider adding those in. That's acutally a great idea...and I think I have a couple of RoE without a home... I'll have to think about that. I don't know if I would take out the Baneslayers though. I just really like them!
