Not true, They hit the graveyard. After all effects take place, they would cease to exist.
Which means it would still not work "you may return that creature card to play under your control at end of turn if Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker is still in play." once combat is over with the token no longer exiest so at the end of turn there is nothing to return.
Necro is right, they do hit they grave but as soon as they do they cease to exist.
