Main Deck (64 cards)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

so i started playing around christmas and i opened up a couple of boosters. this crimsom vow set looked really WOWZA! albeit a bit sexist yet i bought it and my friend let me take some of his commons from the set so i could get a get going

all my friends started playing last year as well so we are not that good and we are very noob & casual but i would like to know how to improve on this deck and how to become better in mtg in general. this deck wins about 1/3 of games it plays against my friends in 1v1 so i dunno

i heard mtg has a positive and welcoming environment since the wizards have been making inclusive sets and cards which are so EPIC! i wish i could buy the stickshaven set or what it was which came out last here since i love harry potter but my local store doesnt have it for some reason

How to Play

basically this deck plays like following: play creatuer or two then put some +counters on them and attack. instant cards like massive might are good and will always win you the combat against some opponents

i would like to have more +counter cards because they are fun to play but right now i dont have any. i really also dont know many cards so i really dont know what mtg set to buy from my local store. can you guys give advice on this?

Deck discussion for my first deck opinions welcome

General Advice: Try to identify cards that you like, and that you feel work very good in this deck, and cards that don't really life up to your hopes. Try to get the cards that really work at least 3 times, 4 would be better, and remove others that don't work instead. But, keep an eye on the mana-costs, you don't want to many of those expensive cards in your deck.

How do you want to continue with this deck? The world of magic is huge, and the options are nearly endless. Question is if you and your friends can agree on a legality that you all want to stick to, do you want to play at FNM (Friday Night Magic) events at your local game store, or participate in other events or small tournaments?

If you want to keep the budget low, take a look at pauper decks, those only use common cards and thus the total costs of the deck is normally rather low (In comparison)

A good way to start with are bundle boxes. I'm sure you can find a Strixhaven bundle somewhere online if you like the Harry Potter theme. It contains about 10 boosters I think, a life counter and a box to store all your cards.

Also google how drafts work. You'll need your friends and 3 boosters each to play.
All decks should then be somewhat equal in power level. And you learn how to build decks.

Basically besides different thematic settings, all magic sets are the same. Red does direct damage to the face with spells and fast creatures, green is about big monsters, blue tries to deny your opponents plays... and so on.
Get familiar with what colors do best and what fits your playstyle best.

Your deck here isn't a bad start. Cut it down to 60 cards. 24 lands should be enough here. Get rid of the blue cards and keep it G/W only.
Identify which cards have the most impact on your board and make them 4 of (or take cards with an similar effect if you don't have 4 of them) Try to figure out what makes you lose games. Do you need removal for your opponents creatures? Are you not fast enough to pressure your opponent? Then go from there and improve your deck step by step.

To find cards by effect, text, mana value, or color you can use scryfall.com

Good luck and have fun!
