Deck Description

OF THE DEAD! :D

My dream zombie deck!

Note: this is an existing deck.

How to Play

Get out as many buffed zombies as quick as possible!

The main drive here is Endless Ranks of the Undead and Call to The Grave. Use removal and sacrifice some creatures (which you later ressurrect) to hold off aggro decks and raise crucial zombies from the grave, then watch as your zombie army - buffed by Undead Warchief, Cemetery Reaper and Lord of the Undead- amasses and slaughter's the living!

This deck has been tried and tested over and over in very hard situations for months, and it's badass!

Deck discussion for V\ Endless ranks...

Not a bad deck. Pretty the same play style as mine. Kee Pl people at bay until you have an army of zombies then rape face. But you should switch to snow covered swamps. So much better. ;)

Thanks man! They're quite the same indeed, although mine has some more (seemingly) random creatures and more cheap removal. Yours is more finished though, with Gravecrawler e.g.; I fill up cheap CMC places with Gutter Skulks and Returned Phalanxes and stuff :-) Vile Rebirth shouldn't be underestimated either!

Hm I'll stick with my random ancient Swamp lands :-) Cold landscapes conserve your zombies longer than hot/moist climates (where they rot away faster), but they move slower as well. Shambling is good, slow shuffling is bad ^^

Ghoulcaller's Chant. Two zombies returned to your hand for one swamp, or that Fog of Gnats if you needed flying again.

Hm that could easily replace Vile Rebirth... I'll keep an eye out for that card! Thanks!

Sweet, I got some Lord of the Undead's in a great trade, put 1 extra in, in place of Bubbling Muck, and have on more left. Not sure what to replace it for though, since the deck's running fantastically the way it is now.

I'd say replacing Vendetta with something that isn't limited to nonblack (I usually use Ultimate Price) would be helpful. Otherwise, you have no form of removal for anything that shares a colour with yours.

Also, note that Lord of the Undead is not even a zombie. That usually shouldn't matter, but for Call to the Grave purposes, you may want to keep it in mind.

My two favourite zombies are Skinrender from Scars and Gray Merchant from Theros. Gray Merchant adds some lifegain and plays well with any zombies that aren't Endless Ranks of the Dead tokens, and Skinrender is a 3/3 for 4 that usually can double as a kill card or weaken anything that's a threat (making anything with 3 power or less unable to do combat damage, which stops most additional effects of attacking). Your highest cost creature is 4 and you have 4 Dark Rituals; you don't need to rely on Festering Goblins because they're cheap and not nearly as good as your other creatures.

I only agree with you on the Vendetta part :-) I use it because it's a fun and cheap card, but you're right, I need Ultimate Price in there.

Lord of the Undead is a zombie. They changed the lords after a while from type "Lord" to whatever they're boosting, except they're not boosting "all" but "all other" creatures. It's used in that respect as well, so Call to the Grave has no effect on him.

I don't like to use Gray Merchant in this deck because he's overpowered and not in the theme of this deck, which is spawning as many zombies as fast as possible. And it does that freakin' well! The dark rituals help cast Endless Ranks or Call to the Grave faster, which can turn the tide very quickly!

The Festering Goblins are there as a turn 1 zombie, because, again, I need as many zombies as possible in the game.

It seems weird, I know, but it works ridiculously well. :-) So thanks for the ideas, but I'll only use the Ultimate Price suggestion.

I took out 1 Doom Blade (total now is 2) and the Vendetta's, and added 2 Ultimate Price's. That should make the deck more versatile! I also added 2 Claim of Erebos as a higher CMC enchantment to make this deck more terrifying late game. I have yet to playtest it this way, though. I'm also thinking of maybe adding 2 Geth, Lord of the Vault's instead of the Claim of Erebos, but I'm not sure yet.

Whoops, I meant Dictate of Erebos, not Claim of Erebos. Claim of Erebos is worthless, and Dictate of Erebos if devastating when I've got loads of zombies about :D

Switch 2 Returned Phalanxes for 2 boneknitters because you can't take away the defender.

Nah. He's a very cheap 2 CMC zombie, perfect for defending, whilst Endless Ranks of the Dead spawns tokens. Boneknitter is a huge target for burn, which means a wasted spell.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the deck works brilliantly, after months and months of finetuning :-)
