Deck Description

Yes that's right. After 4 other attempts at a tournament quality, consistently fast and lethal infect deck, I believe I may have come close to my final version.

Btw, my B/G Infect 4.0 has technically never lost in any of my FNM matches, but improvements are always welcome.

Comments and/or advice are always welcome :)

Deck discussion for B/G Infect 5.0

Really liking the idea of canopy cover. Infect creatures are so easy to kill but this enchantment makes them just a little bit tougher.

Yeah. That and Spellskite make it very difficult to take out your big swingers.

How would spellskite interact with go for the throat? It's an artifact so technically it couldn't originally be the target of that spell; however could you redirect and the spell would nullify itself?

114.6a If an effect allows a player to "change the target(s)" of a spell or ability, each target can be changed only to another legal target. If a target can't be changed to another legal target, the original target is unchanged, even if the original target is itself illegal by then. If all the targets aren't changed to other legal targets, none of them are changed.

AKA: You can't change away Go for the Throat =/ But that's what Vines of Vastwood and Autumn's Veil are for =D

maybe beast within instead of doom blade. I really don't know if valakut is a problem for you though.

I feel like a troll, having posted this so many times while I've been looking over infect decks, but; Virulent swipe is a much better choice than Vampire's bite. It rebounds for free and gives your creature the same +3 as well as deathtouch.

It gives +2, not +3.

Er, +2, but it's still a stronger card in my opinion.

Lol yeah I see this one a bunch. I totally get the whole gist behind Virulent Swipe and have MBed it before. The real reason it isnt in here is simply because that extra +1 makes a big difference. Take a look at Glistener Elf T1 drop and then next turn swing. Essentially what you want to see in your hand is a land, groundswell, mutagenic, and another buff. Adding all those up you get a total of 7 damage only, meaning your last buff has to be at least +3 to get a T2 kill. I know that T2 kills are rare and somewhat silly, but having the ability to do so with a number of cards that is diverse is incredibly useful. Hope that explains why I chose Bite over Swipe... :)

I totally understand. Swipe just seems more consistent to me, since the odds of a T2 win are very rare. Although, they are possible, I guess it all depends on what your focus is. =p

Very nice deck, nonetheless.
