Deck Description

Really trying to put together a burn/control deck centered around Guttersnipe and Talrand, Sky Summoner. The deck seems to endure for a little while and I can almost get the win, but it starts to falter late in the game. I'm wondering if it's because I need better deck construction or if I'm playing it wrong. Any advice (including what to put in my sideboard) is very much appreciated.

==Updated==
Added Devil's Play, Volcanic Geyser, and sideboard cards.

Deck discussion for Guttersnipe Burn/Control

Maybe 2 of either Thundermaw Hellkite or Nivizzet, dracogenuis rather than the Balefire dragon as a finisher? should help with later game. Other than pain lands That is all I can think of. Check out my gettersnipe deck http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=394477

Why no delver? the high instant/sorcery count you have for talrand and guttersnipe synergize perfectly with flipping delver of secrets.
Also, i like the use of balefire dragon, hes such an underrated card :)

I did try Delver in this deck, and all it did was divert attention from a Guttersnipe or Talrand for a moment. I can get either to stick around longer without Delver, believe it or not. Maybe it was luck of the draw, but Delver never really made much of a difference. Got to pull out the Balefire once or twice, SOOOO satisfying to decimate a token deck that way!!!

try delvers, more burn (rather than control) i'd recommend more pillars of flame, the 2 drop 3 damage card in m13 (which i cant remember the name of) and maybe a spell that ccan do x to target creature or player. they would probably help a lot. also, more sulfur fals are always nice, and the izzet boiler works! get as many dual lands as you can. though judging from the shape that the deck is in now, your probably building on a budget, so i feel for ya man. also, epic experiment might be good to run a one-of.

searing spear, that was the instant i mentioned, but you already have four, so forget i said anything. also looking closer, talrands invocation is a terrible card! cut it out completely! if you want tokens from non talrand sources, go with something like krenkos command, or something from return to ravnica that gives tokens with something else to go with it.

Talrand's Invocation actually works out quite well with one or two Goblin Electromancers on the board. Like I said in a previous reply, Delver never really did that much for me, but I am trying to get my hands on more Sulfur Falls, Devil's Play, and Volcanic Geysers.
