Question : do you like surgical extraction better than extirpate? I like extirpate against counterspell deck and surgical for aggro decks.
I could go either way... for surgical extraction the phyrexian mana making the card essentially free is always helpful however for extirpate split second is just insane... Your uses for them sounds good.
