How to Play

Part 3 of my Kamigawa Spirit decks... Without the spirits... This is a mock up of a Nate Heiss deck http://archive.wizards.com/Magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtgcom/daily/nh44 Updated to include Kiora's Follower, and tuned to have a bit more control, I'll admit that I looked very closely at his deck when I designed this, so I can't claim it as an entirely original idea. The idea that I'd started with required use of Mirror Gallery to be able to drop as many shrines of any kind as you like. Unfortunately, Mirror Gallery is a $5 card! I had also originally planned to use Heartbeat of Spring as the mana ramp, but I think Nate's idea of using Kodama's Reach and Sakura-Tribe Elder works just as well, for far less cost, and without tipping your advantage to your opponent.

As such, consider the side deck as an *EXPENSIVE* upgrade to the main. The idea of having multiple Hondens of Infinite Rage... is just scary amounts of damage. If you put in Mirror Gallery, try to drop one as soon as possible and try for two copies of Honden of Infinite Rage. The current model is very control oriented. Substitute in Hold the Line, Glacial Ray, or Rend Flesh for a more defensive or offensive model. You could also consider card draw mechanics if you feel you're having trouble getting the right shrines, there are many ways to play the skeleton deck here.

Basically, mana ramp until you have 5 mana (one of each color), then start dropping shrines and let them do the work for you.
