Deck Description

An early, pre-pre-release attempt at Dragons of Tarkir with the Ojutai Clan.

Pay less attention to the sideboard, I have Ojutai's Breath, Icefall Regent, and Mirror Mockery in there as possible replacements for Pacifism and Pristine Skywise as I'm not sure exactly which are the stronger options therein.

How to Play

Sandblast and Mirror Mockery/Ojutai's Breath/Pacifism (not at all sure which one of the latter is strongest...) are your kill spells or at the least ways to slow down your opponent's creatures.

Control comes from Negate, Monastery Siege, and (to a lesser extent) Stratus Dancer.

Use Great Teacher's Decree and Glaring Aegis to pump your creature attacks. Glaring Aegis + Graceblade Artisan Is your most basic power combo (effectively a 5/8 for 4 plus an allowed tap once). While the Glaring Aegis + Graceblade Artisan combo opens you up for a 2 for 1, I found at prerelease that it's a worthwhile exchange given the low mana cost of playing the combo, and given that your average control-ish deck will probably have some level of card draw mechanic somewhere. Personally, the idea of a 5/8 for 4 (even a vanilla 5/8 for 4) sounds like a steal, even if you have to use two cards to make it happen.

To wrap things up, you've got the unblockable Gudul Lurker, Ojutai Interceptor for basic creature damage, and Dragonlord Ojutai and Pristine Skywise (could be replaced with Icefall Regent) for finishers.

You've got Fate Forgotten/Erase and Skywise Teachings in the sideboard to give a little more kick where needed. The side also allows for a more offensive play style or a more control oriented playstyle. The core of the sideboard (beyond the options given there) are:

4 Hidden Dragonslayer
2 Skywise Teachings
2 Erase
4 Anticipate
3 Surge of Righteousness

The addition of 2 Narset somewhere would also improve on the deck but I know I'm not paying $40 a pop for any card on my budget...
