Deck Description

This deck focuses on bounce to lockdown your opponents deck.

The Mainboard deck is a Blue and Green deck focusing on bounce and buffing creatures.

The Sideboard deck is an alternative Blue and Black deck focusing on bounce and discard.
Swap out the following:
- Might of Old Krosa for Ghastlord of Fugue
- Simic Charm for Recoil
- Distortion Strike x1 and Mutagenic Growth x1 for Warped Devotion

How to Play

Combos:
1. Cephalid Constable + Cryptoplasm - Create a copy of Cephalid to maximise its ability to return permanents to owners hand.

2. Constable + Cryptoplasm with Spectral Flight, Distortion Strike, Might of Old Krosa or Mutagenic Growth - Play any of these cards onto Cephalid or Cryptoplasm to increase the triggering of Cephalid's ability.

3. Drift of Phantasm - Flying defender and can transmute for Constable when necessary.

4. Boomerang & Eye of Nowhere - These cards are exceptionally versatile. Primarily used to bounce opponents lands but can also be used to bounce an opponents creature, enchantment, artifact etc... or even your own creature if it is in any danger of being targeted.

Everything else helps implement these combos:
Telling Time - Helps cycle through cards
Mutagenic Growth & Might of Old Krosa - Buff Cephalid for extra bounce
Ranger's Guile - Hexproof

Comments, help always welcome. Enjoy.

Deck discussion for Modern Cephalid Constable G/U

Yes, the Constable!!! Not sure why he doesn't get more play!

Bounce for the win!!!

My favorite deck I personally own is a Constable deck.
Dirt cheap. 15 bucks. And it is brutal. Undefeated.
Usually, on the 5th turn (sometimes 4th) I bounce every land my opponent has on the board.
The next turn I bounce every other permanent they have on the board, and they quit the game.

Anyways, yeah, I like it. Consider Urza's Guilt. And Wash Out. And Recoil.
I don't think Urza's Guilt and Recoil are modern though. They are nice with Warped Devotion.

Yeh I know I saw Constable searching through some cards and thought "that is just devestating, I must build a deck around this." And that deck you have there is quite brutal lol, very nice. In regards to Urza and Wash Out I feel I have enough bounce and I'm peeved Recoil isnt Modern cause that goes so well with this deck. Cheers for the help, I'm definitely going to continue working on this deck until its solid.

Another card, not modern though, is Wall of Tears.
Wall of Tears destroys fast creature decks/aggro decks.
Plus, when you block their creature with Wall of Tears...and force them to have to return their creature to their hand, if Warped Devotion is in play...it is brutal!

The temptation for making this deck Vintage is too strong. I'm doing it, welcome to the deck Recoil and Wall of Tears. I can't ignore you any longer

And, p.s., you need something to protect your Constable. Shroud. Hexproof. Something.
First thing I would do If I seen you play Constable is nuke him with something like a Terror.

Too true, I'll take that into consideration, I'm torn between Protective Bubble, Robe of Mirrors and Clout of Dominus. They all provide shroud but the bonuses differ.

Protective Bubble - 4 CMC, Shroud and Unblockable
Robe of Mirrors - 1 CMC and Shroud
Clout of Dominus - 1CMC, +1+1 counter and Shroud (but tbh the red bugs me a little lol)

However, I just noticed I would need to copy Constable before I shroud him so I'm also thinking about Sheidling Plax, Mizzium Skin or Swift Boots/Mask of Avacyn because that would allow me to still target Constable with Cryptoplasm's ability. Not much Hexproof to choose from unfortunately...

Good ideas floating around.
Spot on with the Shroud making it to where Crytoplasm is not used to his full potential.
Whatever your choice, I do know that your opponent will target Constable immediately. It helps if he is protected.

Good luck!

I figured Shielding Plax is the best option for some added draw

Plaxcaster Frogling is an interesting choice in that it is transmutable with Drift of Phantasm. Vines of Vastwood is another instant speed option as well as solid pump in its own right. Then there's always Asceticism, which is tutorable if you go for a more aura-focused build (i.e., Distortion Strike -> Aqueous Form, Mutagenic -> Rancor, etc.,)
