I just realized I left out the word suns, and it saddens me.
And between the starry nature of the art, and the constellation mechanic I have to agree that it fits.

I've only actually seen legacy, vintage and EDH. Standard and Modern are rare. I thought he wasn't fond of those formats.

No clue, but I'll take it as a compliment haha. Nice little anecdote though, there IS a punctuation symbol in the English language that was meant to express sarcasm. It was shown as an upside-down question mark.

EDIT: Also, I didn't really popularize it...standard players kinda did that on their own. I just helped with some of the design =]

I never knew that. cool... I am gonna have to use that!!!

on a side note, do either of you know of any cards that break kill-suit cultist? something that allows you to bring it back for multiples sacrifices per turn? preferably in black or red, or artifact.

0

Go back to before the M10 rules update neutered sacrifice combat mechanics...Otherwise the little psychotic goblin isn't very useful anymore.

Dang that is what I thought. :(. Oh well. Now for another one... Is there a cats that prevents players from paying life that isn't angel of jubilation?

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 02:41

a cats? did you mean cast?

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 02:43

and unfortunately there is not.

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 02:48

yes angel of jubilation makes it so opponents cant pay life or sac creatures to play spells or activate abilities I use that in my angel deck. oh I didn't see u were saying other then

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 02:48

yeah that card is awesome, its a shame there is no other card with that ability though

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 02:50

Crap, sorry I meant a CARD... stupid phone auto correct. And unfortunately angel of jubilation effects all players, not just your opponents. Otherwise it would be perfect for what I want. I am trying to combo with the black and white God from nyx.

1
Posted 11 May 2014 at 03:00

it would still be awesome with athreos?

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 03:02

Don't mind me. Just keeping the chain going.

3
Posted 11 May 2014 at 03:07

My deal is that I need to be able to sacrifice my own creatures but not allow my opponents the chance to pay the life to leave my creatures in the graveyard. And that is why angel of jubilation doesn't work.

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 03:09

ahh yes, i see.. what if you were to give yourself hexproof? would it work then?

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 03:12

unfortunately no. If you have hexproof, it means that you cannot be the target of spells or abilities that your opponents control. it doesn't block any world static effects, like angel of jubilation causes. Or if you meant that the hexproof might make it so that your opponent cannot pay the life because they cannot target you... unfortunately that does work either since they are not targeting anything to pay the life. They are just well... paying life.

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 03:38

are there any cards giving you shroud?

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 03:45

doesn't hexproof make athreos ability fizzle? if u could give your opponent hexproof for the turn u sac something I think it would work

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 03:51

youre giving yourself hexproof not the opponent

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 03:53

um... there are cards that can give you shroud, but it has the same effect. you cannot be the target of spells or abilities at all. even your own. so the effect would essentially be the same here, in that it doesn't really effect your opponent paying life or not. good thought though. :)

now the other thing that I MIGHT be able to do is run the angel, which would work for paying the life, but have some way to destroy my creatures instead of sacrificing them. but it seems like it would be far less effective. :(

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 03:53

you could play lots of weak creatures then use a mass damage spell

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 03:55

I could do that, but I kind of want something that allows me to kill my creature at will. But running something like Wrath of God would work as well, as long as I have LOTS of creatures out.

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 04:04

I cant remember the name of it but there is a card that gives u hexproof and your opponents get to put in a copy of it when u play it I don't know if that helps u but it is if your opponent has hexproof then athreos ability fizzles

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 04:47

ok, that is true... if my opponent has shroud or hexproof, I cannot target them for athreos ability. but that can be worked around with glaring spotlight, if need be. and not many people run cards that give themselves shroud or hexproof. just isn't really practical unless you are facing a burn deck in my opinion. Either way the card that you are thinking of wouldn't help me at all, since it works against me being able to target my opponent with Athreos. so I am confused...

0
Posted 11 May 2014 at 06:53

i had a thought on this if u want to do something and not kick off athreos ability or the angel ability u could use a spell or ability to exile that card till end of your turn

0
Posted 15 May 2014 at 05:37

But that would defeat the purpose of having it come back after dying.

0
Posted 15 May 2014 at 05:43

Athreos's ability is not an activated ability, so Angel of Jubilation won't work for that anyway. Also, if your opponent has hexproof, the ability will not return the creature to your hand. The best way to abuse Athreos is using one drops and sac engines. Blasting Station would be a good one.

Modern...if it wasn't, of course I would be screaming Serra's Sanctum.

I hate to pander...but I want to be a better player and better deck builder...if you would, surewhynot, look at a few of my decks and hammer me. Tell me where my weak points are. What I am doing right. What I need to change to be better. Hell...any advice would be awesome. I have learned a lot, on this site, so far with people helping me better understand the rules and by suggesting better cards that i previously did not know about. And I ask, also, because I have heard nothing but positive comments on your deck building skills...so who else to go to, right?

Don't blame you if you -1 me on the comment, lol. :)

And speaking of pretty cards...weren't Unhinged land cards pretty? And so is Gift of Orzhova!

0
Posted 14 May 2014 at 09:39

Probably just got them when the series came out. Since Unhinged was a "joke" expansion, the cards were all pretty damn cheap. Now the lands run at about 10 dollars a piece.

I actually (think it was from unglued) remember a friend of mine trying to make a successful deck out of B.F.M. :)

It's more of an " I have it" card. It is funny to play though.

0
Posted 14 May 2014 at 14:34

Yeah, I played during Unhinged (and Unglued) and grabbed up as many of the lands as I could then, and then through the years I just snatch up any more that I come across. Some people collect coins or baseball cards. I collect Unhinged lands =P

As a young kid my dad preached to me to collect baseball cards. Would be worth money one day. I then started to collect Magic cards...and he scoffed at me. Now i go online to see how much my baseball cards are worth...and they are a dime a dozen. And yet I have some Magic cards worth 20 and 30 dollars. Go figure. But you are right KJSJ3...I get to actually use the more valuable Magic cards, not put them in the closet.

0
Posted 14 May 2014 at 17:00

I think there are a few useful unhinged/unglued cards... They are usually garbage, or so completely overpowered that it isn't funny. Like mirror mirror. Or the artifact that taps and adds infinite mana. And with no mana burn anymore that goes from worthless to all powerful.

0

I used to collect baseball cards as well I looked them up a few months ago and they went down in price

0

Yep. Like old 80 and 90 Rookie cards. I bought some of them for like 5 and 10 dollars a piece. I go online a few months ago and you can buy them for like 1 and 2 dollars.

I want advice overall, on it. But major concerns is the Tivadar's Crusade, Whelming Wave, and Wizened Cenn...the double mana scares me in a dual deck. But honestly...not even sure all of the mechanics work in the deck.
