Deck discussion for Choke

Interesting deck, I've seen very few decks that win by shoving cards down their enemies throats, and they're mostly mill. This is by far the strangest method of burning somebody I have ever seen... Also it happens to be one of the best, and most amusing. 10/10, I hate to say it but it really doesn't need any editing other than maybe sideboarding an eldrazi for going against some of the faster mills.

Wow thanks. I probably will sideboard some anti-mill cards just in case.

It doesn't matter if they dont, Grixis is just an awesome powerhouse colour set and you really take advantage of it with this deck. This deck just seems way too awesome

Yeah, it's always funny when you get out enough things that hurt them when they draw and have out forced fruition =]

That's just insane...i LOVE grixis, i'm going to check into the cost of this whole deck and see if i cant make it happen!

One of my friends has been beating my turn-three Dragonstorm deck for as long as I've had it, with his "Bant'Chantress" deck... My Dragonstorm deck is my fastest, and most flawed deck, with almost a garenteed win every time. His Bant'Chantress makes him skip his draw step because of solitary confinement, but also has to draw a lot of cards, so this deck could probably make him Choke up something fierce. I'll try this deck against him, but maybe switch those that involve draw steps... THANK YOU!!!

Good idea. I think I'll do Molten Psyche since when I have the metalcraft active, it'll flat-out kill them.

0

Molten Psyche doesn't work that well, it's a sorcery, so you can only play it during your turn.

this looks expensive. but i haven't yet seen a deck that trolls harder!

i don't know how well it would work, but liliana's caress would be hilarious in this deck, considering how much discarding there's going to be.

0
Posted 20 December 2010 at 01:35

Yeah, the discarding can get pretty insane. I played a two-headed giant game where I let my buddy use my discard deck "Look Ma! No hand!" and that used together with this is brutal. =]

Sadly there's not really any room for discard stuff in this.

0

Wow a two-headed giant with this deck and a discard deck that is just mean. No other way to discribe it plain mean. if it was me i would just say never mind i didnt want to play anyways. Great deck man.deff 10/10.

Really nice deck !

Black Vise for the effin' win brotha!

0
Posted 20 December 2010 at 07:12

Thanks. Not sure why I was using the Maiden instead...

And yeah, as you said the Maiden (now Vice) murders players. And also, playing an instant against me on my turn is going to REALLY cost you if I have Forced Fruition out.

0
Posted 20 December 2010 at 11:59

Oh and Iron Maiden doesn't work that well either, as unless they play a spell during your turn, they'll only have 7 cards in hand it it will only do 3 damage.

0
Posted 20 December 2010 at 07:19

I disagree, Iron Maiden (soon to be replaced by Black Vise) only needs 7 quick turns to kill your opponent if they have 7 Cards in their Hand, and while they may not always have 7 Cards in their Hand, that is Iron Maidens work alone, not including the other awesome Draw-Kill Cards in this Deck. Your point stands, Iron Maiden is kind of weak, but it is a very nice cherry on top of this pain train.

This deck is ridiculous, as are your others. So ridiculous that I can't help but to love it lol. I must admit, the best part about this deck is underworld dreams. My favorite black card of all time by far. That's personal bias though. Since you seem to like the older stuff maybe experiment with a wheel of fortune :) my buddy has a vintage red/black deck he runs with that and underworld dreams. It's scary stuff lol.

maybe add in jaces erasure? for each card you draw, they mill one. its like the opposite of chains of mephistopheles.

0

No, see...the chains are better than just that. They force milling or discarding or both! The chains are just so much more versatile.

figured something fun out, maybe another trick for this deck if you can get the set up, bazaar trader out in play, tower out in play, the chain of me... enchantment, and swans, tap bazaar, giving swans to opponent, pay mana and use tower, target swans............................................................................................................. LAUGH. Enjoy.

0

but since the swans only have 3 toughness, wouldnt it only prevent 3 damage?

0
Posted 02 January 2011 at 02:27

I don't know the ruling on that, but it does say prevent the damage on the card so I'm assuming. I know there is a more specific ruling for it, but my guess right now is that it prevents all damage. (I hope) lol

0
Posted 02 January 2011 at 05:46

It prevents all damage on them. Their toughness is there for other game mechanics and also because -1/-1 counters or something similar will kill them. I love the swans, people who have played against this deck before still have moments where they attack me out of habit and forget what the Swans do. They often kill themselves when they do that. =]

Psychosis Crawler? I think he might ruin people in this deck. It sucks that his mana cost is 5, but it'd speed up the game, for sure. Other than that, this is probably the most ridiculous card advantage deck I've ever seen, I think. Haha. Kudos on this one, man.

0

i think you might consider something like a spellbook, so that when all the card advantage from font of mythos, howling mines, and the puzzle boxes comes back to you, you dont have to discard.

I can't get the Iron Maiden to work nearly as well as Black Vise though... I wish they would unban Black Vise in Legacy format.

Please tell me how you like it!

Why don't you try putting in a few Yawgmoth's Bargains so that you don't take damage from your own cards once you have enough out? That would also keep you from discarding so much as well.
