Deck Description

This is an experiment in a WBUG super aggressive version of the typical BUG layout for Poxtraction Aggrolock (PAL). NOTE: This deck is incredibly difficult to play, even for me at first. Unless you know exactly what you're doing, the learning curve of this deck will make you have a very frustrating night.

***UPDATE****

The deck works better than I thought it would. This is my current design for PAL, and this will likely be the path this deck type takes in the future =]

Deck discussion for "I am become Death"

Unmask then surgical extraction... BAM!

Exactly. Poxtraction Aggrolock can arguably give Iso-Seek a run for its money. Usually it's BUG, but I wanted to try out this crazy version with W added in =P

Well i like it.. ALOT. I may try my hand next at a suspend themed extraction. looks promising and fun =D

I made one based entirely on Suspend, but that was just to see what it'd be like. The basic design nowadays with Poxtraction Aggrolock is 3 Bitter Ordeals, 2 Pox, and one of each CotC and Living End. Both Poxtraction Control and Poxtraction Aggro have different "frames", but really suspend is just coincidental, it was never really meant as a theme =P

CotC is brutal man, it basically looms as a threat that says "Either sacrifice something, or you lose."

CotC is brutal but token decks kill that as a win condition do you have stuff to take care of tokens like black sun Day of Judgement Life's Finale anything that can kill off many things at once?

With the threat of Pox, running tokens is just asking to get trashed. Aside from that, I do have BSZ in my sideboard, which has yet to be finished...

Holy helll..... I sometimes wonder whether I'm glad I don't play against decks such as these, or disappointed that I've yet to be challenged in such a manner.
This is really good, dude. I can't offer much advice, or any for that matter, it just looks solid as is.

I like it. A lot. Well done, man.

Hahaha, thanks man, I appreciate it. And don't worry, Extractors are a rare breed, but you'll run into one eventually =]

I've yet to do any true testing of it against other decks, but in goldfish it's been making me happy =]

On a side note, Unmask ---> Surgical Extraction or Extirpate can be hilarious. At times it can win a game outright without even paying any mana!

The land seems a bit light here, and with a playset of Mox Diamond I bet you'll feel that shortly.

On the matter of Unmask in here, I actually think it'd be better as Thoughtseize here. Unmask is card disadvantage, which matters here more than in combo, or a straight Pox deck.

Yeah, I think you're right about both things. I think I'm going to go with a 61 style design, and drop to 3 Diamonds.

This is horrible in an amazing way! I love bitter ordeal with psychic surgery. I think the different ways this could be played would make it a really fun deck as well (I've drawn like 50 sample hands). I think this is my favourite of yours.

It's really becoming quite depressing, whenever I see one of your decks with Tabernacle in it.. Now that Rishadan Port is easily attainable, I must work on getting a Tabernacle!!

Also, what Mortdale said.. I never considered how powerful Bitter Ordeal could be with Psychic Surgery! Just a little bit of dissonance between how we'd play and the actual rules, since you'd typically resolve every copy of Bitter Ordeal simultaneously to speed up the game, rather than actually exile a card, shuffle, exile a card, shuffle . . . I think that alone would be enough to make an opponent scoop ;D

By the way, I created another account. My other one was becoming too full with silly/random decks I built out of boredom and/or to save an idea for later when I'd have time to refine it.. Instead of going through and cleaning house, I decided to create another account for my serious decks.

My profile should be easier to navigate now :P So feel free to take a look and comment, your (and others) input is always appreciated! Especially since I'll be looking to buy / trade for some of these cards at some point.

The Bitter Ordeal with Psychic Surgery thing drives people crazy. It takes sooooo long to finish.

Remove something, hand back deck, they shuffle, you look at top two cards, exile one, they hand you deck, you remove something else, hand it back...Etc, etc, etc.

I do too =]

This one has turned out to be one of my new favorites, and it might be the next step for Poxtraction Aggrolock (Hereby renamed "PAL"). Now my main goal is to find a suitable picture for custom sleeves. When I make any Extraction deck, it's gotta have custom sleeves =P

I was thinking this:

It is. This is already being integrated as the new framework design for PAL =]

The deck certainly has a learning curve, but once you figure it out the thing flows.

Isn't Phyrexian Obliterator rather black-intensive? Especially with the Crucible of Worlds, Wasteland, Buried Ruin, and the Tabernacle, it seems your first priority wouldn't be to get 4 black sources.

0

Well I only have the two of them in the deck, but even then, it's a lot easier to have 4 black available in this deck than you think =]

Now, not many decks make me afraid to play them, but this one definately does, I'm still new with extraction (only made a few decks that are in the process of being improved) but this is gonna really hurt no matter what someone plays against it. Can a prison deck lock you down faster than you remove the needed cards in this deck?
If I ever get the goyf or billion dollars of lands here I'm definately going to put my group through hell.
I do have one question, Why run 2 Surgical Extraction and 1 Extirpate instead of 3 Surgical Extractions? Does the one split-second card make a big difference sometimes? I thought the option of tapping out and still being to extract would be better than Extirpate.

0
Posted 25 July 2011 at 00:10

The singular Extirpate has saved me on more than one occasion. Even before Mental Misstep, getting through the swarm of counters thrown at you without Split Second could be tough. Now with MM, people are very willing to pay 2 life to keep their deck from getting gutted =/

Split Second makes their responses useless, and is a solid "Deal with it" sort of answer. It can make, and has made, a huge difference.

I feel I should warn you...All types of Extraction have a rather steep learning curve. This one in particular is incredibly skill-intensive...so take the possibility of investing in it with a large grain of salt =/

I see how pricey it can get when taken out of standard, I'm experimenting with it without it having an entire deck devoted to it since I don't have income to support decks this expensive just to test out. Thank you for the warning though.
And I understand that much, I assumed that was the reason but just wanted to know if it was worth potentially leaving yourself tapped out (I've been doing some control stuff lately and got used to not wanting to be completely tapped out a lot) and how frequently split second comes in handy, I wasn't around when split-second was standard and most of my playing was standard so far.
thank you for the explanation.

So I tested this, and DEAR GOD THIS IS BRUTALS! It's much more focused, and I'm loving it. I'll probably stick to my bizarre Iso-Seek Poxtraction though, it makes people question their reality XD

I've heard a lot of hubbub about Lands and TES being skill intensive, but it's nothing compared to this. It was a sincere pleasure running it, and had a blast ripping apart a lot of the stuff I saw on MWS today.

I really like this version better than the Misstep version, it seems really fun.

I say either drop that second slot entirely, or go for a second Fatespinner. Maybe be a dick and go for Sen Triplets, but that'd increase the cost of that slot by 0.5 instead of reducing it by that much if you went with Fatespinner.
Those are the three best options I can see.

1
Posted 22 February 2012 at 04:59

Good point man. Losing the slot entirely frees up a substantial amount of mana burden, and just makes the deck flow faster. I've already tried the Disk, and I honestly have no idea why I haven't used it before. It is BEYOND useful. Another bomb to fuel a giant Bitter Ordeal, an "oh shit"...everything.

Thanks for your help dude! =]

I think the biggest factor the Disk adds as a deterant is simply the threat of it. I can have it out on the table and never use it, but in a way, it'll still do its job. Basically a constant reminder that says "Hey, go ahead and play that card you need, but remember I can blast all your shit to hell and back."

Gotta love it. And yeah, I can't wait to play this new and improved version...I freakin love PAL =]

normally when i see a deck that runs a lot of 1 copies etc the deck usually turns out to be terrible but this is damn near masterful it reminds me of my sadistic annihilation deck it usually takes a moment to get going but once it does it hits you like a train and are forced to make a decision give up now or wait and still lose extraction is one of blacks greatest strengths with the power to ruin your opponents deck but when combined with the colors W or U it becomes an art form where you take ur opponents greatest strength at make it their greatest weakness and when i see decks as amazing as these i enjoy thinking how it would play out wen you take 2 amazing deck builders and players and have them play it out and it just becomes an epic battle as such so i would be glad to admit this is one of the most solid builds i've seen in a while and you cease to let me down in the quality of ur builds so good job
