Than a frontal lobotomy...

I realized I hadn't yet designed a Circu extraction yet, so here we go. =]

Deck discussion for I'd rather have a bottle in front of me...

"I'd rather have a free bottle in front of me
Than a prefrontal lobotomy..."

Looks interesting. Not sure that the life-loss from the Watery Graves make them a good choice, but considering the rest of the manabase, I'm guessing you don't have the Underground Seas. xD

Other bank-draining inclusions might include Force of Will, Wasteland, and Chrome Mox.

On the less expensive end of things... If you're going to run the Watery Graves, I might go so far as to say -N Thoughtseize, +N Duress. And maybe turn Perplex into 2x Remands and an extra Duress... I understand Transmute is awesome, but... The card itself isn't particularly useful on its own.

Just my two bits, though.

Perplex, counter or lose hand... Add on the fact that you're extracting TWO cards, and it's well worth using three mana for a counterspell to me.

It searches for bitter ordeal, pox, and fate spinner to boot, so I think perplex fits well. It's a great toolbox piece for this deck since it searches three of the most dangerous cards, and can serve as a naaasty counter.

Yup, I found the best way to work with the shortcomings of a Circu extract (i.e. unselective) is to add a versatile toolbox design to it. With the transmutes I can always have the card I want when I want. Notice that I can also search up Vile Consumption and/or Arcane Lab.

Perplex is actually my favorite counterspell. It just has so many applications and is BRUTAL no matter how you look at it.

I might just be biased against Perplex because it's a) 3-cost, and b) I play a lot of graveyard interaction decks and the "discard hand" bit doesn't always sound bad...
With the obvious penalty that you can't cast it until turn three since you're lacking mana acceleration, and then only if you play a "draw go", the bigger threats I can imagine would already be on the field (Goyf, KotR, Iona, Lackey, etc...) with their hands either already nearly empty or irrelevant.

The toolbox, I understand, but even then the cost for it is pretty high. Even Diabolic Vision looks better to me than Perplex...

you just can;t seem to stop with this extraction kick can you?

Overall I like the deck. I trade making my own Circu extraction after I saw your first extraction deck but I failed miserably. It didn;t work well, and I really want to try this one and see if it fairs better ^^

Great deck as always

I like it, it's extraction with a toolbox aspect from the transmute.
And with Circu your counters are even more painful than the usual, albeit you're paying for them, but still!

I think it would be slightly beneficial to put more in the three slot though, perhaps the clique, mind funeral, or cemetery puca could be of use.

I've gone up against a circu extraction with some of my more tourney geared decks, I lost with my STORM against it. They ramped him out turn two I think, and I just got shut the hell down.
Here's a little chain of evil.
Doomsday>Daze>FoW>FoW, the daze removed LED and the FoW hit another of my doomsdays. Then they extirpated my lotus petal, and lobotomized me by hitting my wish with circu... :/

You should really stop playing Storm against Extraction...It just won't end well. =P

I didn't know! I just agreed to a quick game with a deck they'd been working on, and WHAAAAAAM!

That game lasted till they hit turn three... Past that point there was pretty much no way I could pull that together. It was a blitzkrieg on a glass cannon, and I pray it never happens to it again.

hey chump! i made a circu deck first! lol, anyway, would you give mine another look? i feel like my bloodghast aren't really that useful now that i've taken out pox:p what would you suggest? im thinking i like the tidehollow strix as a replacement:p

I commented, but will add this little bit. Since it's introduction in Shards of Alara, Tidehollow Strix has gone hand-in-hand with Circu extraction. It's pretty obvious why.

lol well i proxied my circu deck last night and wasn't very satisfied with how it ran against a creature based deck, i just felt like i couldn't get rid of enough to save my life, and once creatures got onto the field i suffered greatly:-/ hint hint... i died! so i've built a second extraction deck this one utilizing a little poxtraction but some creature control as well! tell me what you think please!

Heh, Circu is a boss (but no one is better than Niv) I, being a younger magic player, am having problems making decks that work really well, and while I like to believe that some of them have potential I truly fear the day I "fight" someone who bears down upon me with a small stack of cardboard and ink such as this. Listen, I understand you get about 10000000000000000 pleas for help on a deck a day, I can't help but do it again (aren't I so needy?) That said, I must implore you to take some more of your precious time out of your day for some kid somewhere in the world that you have never met. I would enjoy a nice comment on this artifact thing that I devised recently. It is only an experimental thing, but I would always enjoy some more criticism from a guy who knows what he is doing. And while you're there, don't feel appalled to look at my other decks.

P.S. I left a question/comment on your 100th deck, and I would appreciate an answer to my questions. After all, what is an unanswered question but an empty statement.

If you do this, many of my thanks will go towards you.

I really don't get this... your really slow here, I cant see you being fast enough to actualluy stop anyone reliably, especially aggro or combo decks

Yeah, I think I need to work out some kinks with the speed of it. Circu is not that great of an extraction deck in my opinion, but I still wanted to make one. =/

I sadly don't own any =[

I wish I did, as they might help the speed issues a little bit. I might just use this as a designated "nicer" extraction. And like I said in a previous post (I think), Circu is actually largely considered NOT to be extraction.

If I could give you mine, I still wouldn't... Not after the Circu Blitzkrieg... It might not be targeted like a normal extraction, but it's still deadly.

Granted, I was using the glassiest of cannons, but still!

HAHA I love that name mate, nice deck too! Just love the lobotomist, got one of my own...

Would love if you could take a look at my new deck: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=174855

Trying to make a fun boros control with dmg/heal theme. Any suggestion from a professional deck builder like yourself would mean a lot mate.

If you're using Circu, I've got to imagine one of the best counterspells for the deck would be Memory Lapse. They try to cast something important right? You cast Memory Lapse followed by any other spell and now not only is that awesome threat gone, but can no longer be played at all! Most decks typically only have a small number of actual threat cards anyways - if you can remove them, you're golden. For example, try seeing how well a High Tide combo deck works when they can no longer cast High Tide...
