Deck discussion for Scourge of the Dragons

So here is what I think I'd drop green out of this deck completely. Since you're splashing it in the deck it really doesn't help. I'd go completely mono red. Also I'd drop the devour dragons (Broodmother and Voracious Dragon) your deck isn't really suited for it. And I would add more dragons, you are missing out on some great ones like Thundermaw Hellkite, Utvara Hellkite, Bogardan Hellkite, ect. So this is what I would personally change:

Things I'd Drop:
-3 Dragon Broodmother (Because of devour and green in the CMC)
-1 Dragonspeaker Shaman (In reality you only need one out a game, more than that clutters up the field and causes your overall strategy to slow down)
-3 Voracious Dragon (Cuz of devour)
-1 Scourge of Valkas (MIx up with some other 5 drops)
-4 Destrutive revelry (No green)
-4 Cultivate (no green)
-4 Increasing savagery (this one because you only have 8 out of 20 lands that produce green mana so even if you kept the deck the same you wouldn't really ever be able to cast it unless you got lucky.)
-4 Khalani Garden (no green)
-4 Rootbound Craig

So that's everything I'd take out... Now i'll drop a list of good cards I think could replace em' but I'll ;eave everything after that too you.

Things I'd add:
Thundermaw Hellkite (OP 5 drop, comes out as a 5/5 with haste and it does one damage and taps all opponents creatures with flying.)
Utvara hellkite (Expensive 8 drop but it creates a 6/6 dragon token for each dragon you control thats attacking, it's a game ender.)
Balefire Dragon (Nuff said)
Furyborn Hellkite (7 drop that has bloodthirst 6, can come into play with 6 +1/+1 counters on it if an opponent took damagee this turn)
KIlnmouth Dragon (7 Drop when it comes into play for each dragon card you reveal from your hand it gets 3 +1/+1 counters.)
Geosurge (Cost 4 Red Mana but it gives you 7 red mana to spend on creatures)
Lightning Bolt (For the early game, when your deck is kinda slow)
Rite of flames (one red to 2 red mana it also gives you one red mana fro each rite of flames in any graveyard)
Pyretic/Desperate ritual (2 to 3 red mana)
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx ( dragons have 2 to 3 Red mana in their casting cost.... it can make this card worthit very quickly)
Valakut, The Molten Pinnacle (when you control 5 or more mountains and a mountain enters the battlefield under your control you may have valakut do 3 damage to target player)

So that's my recomendation for your deck. Dragon decks tend to be slow, so the faster you make it the better you will do. If you really want to go Red/Green on the deck I'll show you a few of my dragon decks

Small Dragons that I beef up hit with then fling for damage:

My original dragon deck evolved into this fatty deck:

Hope this helped!

pjoshea does raise some good points, but I can't completely agree with the 'no green' thing, but that depends on what you want to do with the deck.

Green is very good for land search, but some would argue that the rituals (Right of Flame, Seething Song, Desperate Ritual, Pyretic Ritual, and Geosurge) are better, but my argument is the lands remain and because you're pulling them out of the deck, you increase the chance to draw non lands (also Seething Song and Right of Flame are banned in Modern). Here's some of my favourite land search cards:

Search for Tomorrow
Wayfarer's Bauble
Khalni Heart Expedition
Rampant Growth
Sakura-Tribe Elder
Viridian Emissary
Harrow

Let's also not forget Manamorphose, it'll help a lot when you're out by one or two of a specific colour mana.

Another, expensive option to consider is the fetch lands (like Wooded Foothills) to fetch not only basic lands, but also Stomping Ground. Fire-Lit Thicket could also help with mana fixing.

As for your choice of dragons, I can't really say much. pjoshea did make a few good suggestions here, but ultimately it's up to you. Dragonstorm seems a little out here as you're not exactly storming for much...

Sorry I should've clarified the way the deck is set up now is not maximizing the potential of green that is splashed into the deck. But in all reality most Dragon decks are not Mono Red but have B, G, or even U splashed into them, But yeah lands would definitely help the deck a lot. I agree with your sentiment, Lands are a safer bet than rituals or mana producing creatures. Either way I hope these helped you with your deck difficulties!

Ja, even dedicated Dragonstorm decks are forced to go dual colour in Modern because of Seething Song and Right of Flame being banned. Here's a mono red Dragonstorm deck I'd run if they weren't banned:

Nice, I had a Dragonstorm deck but it turned into this:

I added all the cards to my sideboard that I would swap out to add Dragonstorm to it...
