Deck discussion for The Apocalypse

Don't use so many dual lands, they come tapped . .
I have 2 Graven Cairns - 4 Summits - 4 Blood Crypts and one Nyx (need one more) on my black-red Modern, and the rest are mounts-swamps (except if you use fetchlands, and add some sacrificial creatures like bloodghasts and gravecrawlers). 20 lands should be enough for your deck, but remove Cliffs, the are situational, and Summits with more swamps/mountains are far better . .
Most of your monsters are r/b and not b and r, so untapped lands is the way to go for speed ^-^

Why not use Unholy strength instead of Riot Spikes? It's only 1 mana anyways, you shouldn't have problems casting it because you can't use red...
Overall, very nice deck!

Deviant Glee is better in R/B than Unholy Strength, because you can tap R and give enchanted creature trample until end of turn

Also, I'd swap your Shred-Freaks out for Spike Jester

That is a very good point with the Deviant Glee! I also agree that Spike Jester is very good in here, but I think he is going for the extra black mana symbol for the devotion mechanic.

Shred-Freaks do double-duty on devotion.

True. I was just going on the fact that Spike Jester has 1 extra power, but you need one of each mana

It's all about devotion. The black mana symbols are a very strong reason to keep it in for the bomb in the end. Deviant Glee is good though, I will try that.

I opted for Fists of the Demigod since 1R/B is too far of a stretch for mana for a much more significant buff to nearly all the creatures that are in this deck. The effects simply resolve much more effectively. Trample is a disappointing lost.

Awesome deck!
I've been addicted to finding a nice red/black beatdown for a while, and your deck is well on its way to being one of the best. I suggeest getting rid of undying evil and replacing it with something a bit better all together. Maybe a dark ritual to speed things up?

Btw, it'd be awesome if you checked out my red/black deck and gave whatever advice you could :D/

Thanks! Undying Evil is extremely useful though for so many combat tricks- many of the creatures have enter the battlefield abilities. I will definitely check it out!

Lightning Axe is hilarious! I don't really want to take anything out but I'll keep it in mind.

I changed a couple of things up. Added Rite of Flame instead of Infernal Plunge, didn't like sacrificing too much. Squeezed in Din of the Fireherd since it's a win condition in this deck.
