Deck Description

Crazy fun when it works! Read the description below and please leave comments/suggestions. I'm always looking to improve it.

How to Play

This deck gets lots of guys out fast through the combination of Preeminent Captain and Windbrisk Heights. Most of the creatures in this deck help each other. Super fast and fun deck if you want to slaughter your opponents with 10 5/5 creatures in as few turns as possible.

Throw the captain of the watch under Windbrisk and when she comes out sooner than you could normally afford her... It's over.

Odric, Master Tactician is a card that ends games.

Also, Darien is no longer considered a lord but is a soldier as well so he fits in even better than he did before. You can check the links that someone posted below for the update.

This deck is weakest against kill/burn decks from red/black.

In the sideboard are things to help in case I encounter a deck that has something specific I can't handle.

Deck discussion for Soldiers!

Not sure I like how high your mana curve is here, especially the cost of Captain of the Watch and Darien, King of Kjeldor (even with the cost reductions). Also I prefer Etherial Haze over Holy Day and Honor of the Pure would be an auto-include in any mono white creature based deck I'd make, you should maybe consider them.

I agree with the high mana cost except that I can put down Captain of the Watch with Windbrisk Heights or Preeminent Captain. I agree with your assessment of Darien - especially because he is a lord and not a soldier and therefore doesn't get the cost reductions. I still find it hard to take him out though.

Good call on Ethereal Haze. I'll have to find those!

Thanks for the feedback.

Darien, King of Kjeldor has had his creature type changed to Soldier as Wizards removed Lord as a creature type:

Still not fond of the casting cost, but that is largely because of the way I would've played Soldiers (as white weenie).

I must admit that missed how you intended to cheat the high mana creatures in.

Thanks for the feedback. I had no idea that they had changed the creature type from lord to soldier.

Ya, They dropped the 'Lord' Creature type shortly after Coldsnap.
I use Gatherer when building decks, that way I can see if there's any cards I may have missed out on :)

Thanks for the tip. Now I just need to show this to my friends when I play against them so they don't think I'm trying to cheat them :P

I really like this deck. I understand what you are saying as far as cheating out your bigger soldiers but I still somewhat agree with the first comment. You have a high curve. That aside, some suggestions I would make are drop a couple cards for God favored general. When it untaps, you can pay mana to put two 1/1 soldiers onto the field. I would also side intrepid hero and replace it with precinct captain. +1 from me.

Thanks for the advice. I used to have intrepid hero sideboard. Maybe I'll put it back there. I do have a couple precinct captain sitting around somewhere...

If you were going to drop something, what would you drop for the God-Favored General (other than Intrepid Hero)?

I would put Gideon in the sideboard in place of murderer investigation, id take out one martial coup from sb and since this deck isn't really focused on defending (and the fact that you have a bunch of chump block tokens) take out the palisade giant. That is just a suggestion. You do what you want since it is your deck. I wish you luck!

How does the darksteel mutation really help me?

it's humble that isn't at instant speed but sticks around forever.

But it also makes them indestructible... If I'm using humble, it's because they blocked or are attacking and I want to kill the creature.
