Deck Description

I got a Jace, the Mind Sculptor in a booster pack and really wanted to make a deck with him. I took what cards I had and made a deck. I've played it once with little success due to horrible clumps of Islands. Needs much work. Suggestions?

Deck discussion for Jace, the Mind Sculptor

I'm pretty new at this but I will try to help. First, if islands are clumping, use 2-3 less islands and/or shuffle thoroughly. second, why do you have a blighted agent in there? third, mostly curiosity, have you ever (and do you think you will ever) play lorthos? you have some impressive control cards but we need to know exactly what you want from this deck so we can make it work.

Yeah, I think I just need to shuffle better. I mentioned that just so anyone reading would know that I don't really know how the deck plays.

About Blighted Agent, I like that he's unblockable and ten turns after he's played, assuming I attack with him each one of those turns, the game is over because of the poison counters. He's not really necessary to my deck, I just thought it was something to try since I'm not too familiar with infect. I'll probably take him out at a later date, but I'm going to see if he actually adds anything positive.

I have a good amount of land, so I believe it is very plausible to play Lorthos. Whether he comes into my hand is a different question altogether. A 1/65 chance isn't too great. Same with Jace. If I could get 3 more of Jace, that would be fantastic. But he costs too much for me to just buy more.

I honestly don't know what I want from the deck. I just know that I want a deck to use Jace in. It seemed like a waste to just keep him in the box without using him when he is so awesome. I've never made a blue deck so I'm not too familiar with how they play, but that's what I'm going to try to do while I play.

Its cool. Blue honestly likes pestering people. bouncing monsters, increasing costs, countering, ect. Its often mixed with other colors to give it more offense. You could try to stall until jace can nuke their deck, but that is assuming you draw him quickly, I don't think building a deck ALL AROUND him is feasible with 1 copy, but he's still right at home in a blue deck. I think that your deck is simply to random and spread out to be effective. Drop some dead weight; Cards that aren't consistent. What color(s) do you normally play? Perhaps you could make a hybrid deck.

I tend to play green more than anything. The biggest problem is that I've run out of forests since 3 of the 4 decks I play have green cards. Do you think this would work as a blue/black or blue/white? I have some fairly legit white cards but I haven't gotten around to making a deck. My black cards are kinda crappy but I could get better ones pretty easily.

Cut the amount of different cards down so that you can have more copies of the cards you like. That's step one. From there were can help you a little more.

Alright. I need to get some money so I can buy those cards first. This deck is made out of cards that I had lying around. I know that's not the way to go, but I want to be able to play Jace. Which ones do you suggest I should get more of?

Hi! I'm back. sorry I forgot about your deck, Iv'e been brainstorming my own. (which you could check out by the way. I need help with my snow deck.) Anywho, the cards you add/ditch depend on what you want the deck to do; Which is up to you. However, even great plainswalkers can be all-but useless if they dont match the decks goal. Jace however is somewhat splashable as he is almost solely a deck thinner. *sigh* your deck is so vague its hard to tell you what might help.

pick a mix the cards that seem to be working well and cards that work okay and are really cheap. Or the cards that are both. After analyzing your deck you seem to have a very general theme of softening your opponent up, (Bouncing creatures, countering, tapping) Then using flying creatures to finish the job. Basically it makes an opening for you to do damage. Its YOUR deck and YOUR the one actually testing it, so you get the final call, but I can think of some cards that may help. Artful dodge, mana leak, and turn to frog. Does it feel like it has enough defense? perhaps try fog bank or one of the gomazoas.
