Deck Description

Wanted to make a Grixis color control deck that actually used Nicol Bolas... no idea how well it will work. Feedback is welcome!

Deck discussion for Grixis Control

The only thing I could think of is that Double Negative is really only good if you're going against a cascade deck, otherwise you're usually just going to get one counter out of the possible two. Switch it in for something that costs a little less like either a Negate or Essence Scatter.

Double negative is just like cancel vs. non-cascade spells. It just has the added bonus of stopping the cascade effect as well. I have broken ambitions for early-game counter, so it's not as thought I am leaving an opening. I had originally considered something more along your line of thought for that counter slot (I was thinking two countersqualls and two essence scatters), but I decided on the double negatives because Jund cascade is pretty popular right now, especially where I play on a weekly basis.
