Deck Description

This is a mid-range Big Red deck that has been doing pretty decently for me in the tournament practice room on MTGO. I am still trying to tweak it to be more streamlined and effective, so feedback from experienced players is more than welcome.

What I like most about the deck is it has legitimate ways to deal with all the hate that had previously cockblocked RDW in the format- leyline of sanctity is a joke when you can just Revoke it, and all the protection from red creatures die to Shrines, Valakut triggers, and Karn.

The only weak point that I am still having trouble dealing with is big creature decks like Mono Green and UW with sphinx/norn/big angels. Any ideas for how to deal with that in a way that won't break the deck?

Deck discussion for ValaKoRn Control (Standard)

Slagstorm for pyroclasm. Why revoke existence? You have no white sources... :/
I would add phyrexian metamorph. Another artifact and can copy bigger creatures or caw blade swords.

How is the x2 Karn working out?

Thanks for the feedback. I like slagstorm because it does an additional damage and it's rarely dead- even if there are no creatures to nuke it's another source of burn vs. the opposing player. I will experiment with pyroclasm to see if it's smoother, though.

As far as Revoke Existence is concerned, I can get white mana from my Spheres and no one ever stops to consider a Revoke coming from a mono red deck... so people don't even think to keep my Spheres off the board until it's too late. It's been working well for me so far!

The Karns are fricking awesome. Thanks to Sphere and Koth you can hit 7 mana very quickly and usually once Karn's on the table it's gg.

Metamorph is an awesome SB idea and as soon as I can trade for some I will be adding them for sure!!

I totally missed the spheres for some reason. (Yes I'm an idiot.)
The thing about slagstorm is that theres nothing with 3 toughness to kill. Only often played card I can think of is emeria angel. Everything else is killed by pyroclasm or not by by any of them.
Did you consider chalice? With proliferate its one hell of a Karn ramp!
