Deck Description

Just an Ula's Temple deck. I've always wanted to make a deck like this and now seems like a good time.

-Basically use Halimar Depths, Augury Owls and Preordain to keep your creatures in top of your library for your Ula's and Djinns. Mana-free or cheap big hitters. Soaring Seacliffs are there for added evasion. I could use mana leak but Deprive is good all game long since it doesn't come with a built in counter to itself. Plus it bounces Halimar Depths back to your hand for more digging fun.

-Sideboard consists of some easily hardcastable creatures, extra leviathans and Ulamog to protect against mill. Plus the deck bears his namesake.

This could probably use some tweaking but I wanted to keep a high concentration of creatures so there would be little wasted reveals for Ula's and djinn plays. It's going to lose a lot of cards once October rolls around unless they print some new sea creatures. Djinn will be out too which kind of sucks.

Deck discussion for Ula's Revenge

I made a deck like this right after Worldwake came out, although you seem to have perfected it. Good call on adding the Djinns.

I have 4 Inkwells in there, but they show up under artifact instead of creature.

mana leak can be countered itself, so deprive is better for same cost

I like both, but I figured deprive would be good all game long and potentialy gives me another halimar depths drop if I need it. Mana Leak is much quicker though since it doesn't set you back a land drop. I'm going to try both once I get around to building this.

I always thought of a deck like this. Personally, if you added swamp and got a lot of mana speed, you could use Lliana Vess's ability to put a card on top of your deck than bring it out with Djinn. It's a good idea.

It's a decent combo, but scry cards and halimar depths perform that function pretty well with the concentration of creatures in this deck without having to splash a color.

This is quite true.

I like your thinking with deprive and halimar depths, I've taken that idea and added it to one of my decks (Similar strategy but I use lots of Cheap creatures to help ensure Quest for Ula gets them counters) I also like the inclusion of Djinn of Wishes but its not standard legal, thanks :P

I still want to build this deck. I just made a few small changes.
-scroll thief, too blah
+thrumming bird, a creature that can max out the quest by itself if left alone
-serpent of the endless seas, too underpowered. especially if the quest goes off early when there are few islands in play.

This is a pretty single-minded deck. I'm sure I could make it more competitive if I tried but something about the way it is now just makes me happy, haha.
