Deck Description

Currently I have my Kraken's in a heavy control deck that works by locking down the board until turn 7 or so when I can actually cast a Kraken. It's a tried and true approach that works, but it's such a long wait for the Kraken and so few times that I get to yell "Release the Kraken!" I also play a lot of group games, and I find it hard to keep a board completely locked down when there are two or three opponents. This is my attempt to come up with a deck for my Krakens that will be more fun for casual group games. The idea is for Kool (Jace) to help get together the Gang (all my Krakens) for a rocking good time. This deck is still in theory only right now, so if you have thoughts for making it better please share! (my main worry is not having anything to deal with flying creatures)

How to Play

The AV guy (Sigiled Starfish) gets things setup with his scry. Flip on the fog machine (Fog Bank) and post the security guard (Guard Gomazoa) at the door to keep out the riff raff while the concert is getting setup. The ticket master (Quest for Ula's Temple) collects tickets for everyone arriving, and when enough tickets are collected calls the band (the krakens) to start getting on stage. Kool (Jace) brings together the rest of the gang by helping make sure they are at the top of the deck. When the crowd gets out of control turn the hose on them (Whelming Wave), then Kool can use his ultimate to send the drenched punks all the way back home before starting up the encore performance.

Using the sideboard as a maybe board right now. I'm feeling like I might need something to smooth out the draw when Jace isn't in play to do that for me. I'm not sure the best way to go for that yet though. Divination would be nice because I get the card advantage, but might be too slow to help me early when I think I need the most help. Augury Owl might be the best choice from a play standpoint being able to scry a full 3 and then become a nice chump blocker for flyers that have me scared, but it fits the theme the least. This is supposed to be a fun casual deck, so I'm hesitant to break theme. Dakra could be nice in getting to dump things I don't want, or I don't want my opponent's to have (she could be the roady chick). Voyage's End would make a good concert security guard bouncing anyone who gets too rowdy (like those darn flyers), and in multiplayer just the threat of it with two mana up might be enough to convince someone to pick a different player to attack. The starfish is just cool because he's a friggen starfish. He'd make a great AV guy running the sound and light board keeping everything going smooth with a scry every turn. To make room for any of these I'd probably go with lowering the Call to the Kindred down to 2 of because the 4 drop slot is crowded and if Ula is rocking Call to the Kindred doesn't mean as much. Then maybe drop Whelming Wave to a 3 of (Negate and Turn Aside are also possibles for a reduction in numbers).

I Like The Owl and you could always get in a few pecks to if opponent doesn't get any flyers or reach out right away, The Friggin Starfish is pretty Rockin, Dakra is pretty Sexy she would make an awesome Roady!!! This deck woud be fun ethier way you go, I am kinda really liking the Starfish the more I think about it, It would be like oh hello I'm just a Little starfish I'm just here to block and scry, Then he's all like meet my friend "The Kraken!!!!!" LOL

or... if I focus on just using the quest to get krakens I can ditch the Call to the Kindred, which also means the hatchling can go because he was just a chump to cast that on. If I do that and also drop the instants and the waves to 3 ofs, I now have room to add the AV guy, the roady, and something every concert needs A FOG MACHINE! Haha take that flyers. The numbers might still need tweaking, but I'm starting to like this more. More creatures increases the chances of the quest getting counters and Dakra and the Starfish should help me sift to what I need quicker.

Actually, chicks have a tendency to break up bands. I don't want any Yoko Ono moments here, so I'm sending Dakra home and hiring security Guard Gomazoa to help keep the riff raff out while the band is setting up.
