Deck Description

There comes a day in a man's life when he most develop an obsession with an archetype that borders on self-destructive. For me, that time came many, many years ago when I was young.

Assuming you play Legacy online, Nether Void costs like a dollar and I fucking love that card, and the more threats you are able to play the better it is.

Fundamentally, this deck resigns itself to the fact that Pox has trouble coming back from behind and attempts to max out the utility of Dark Ritual in order to get ahead.

Court of Ambition slaps harder than Vasily "The Dumpling" Kamotsky (if you can stay ahead) and B-b-b-Barrowgoyf is absolutely incredible when not faced with Swords to Plowshares. The rest of the list is pretty much stock. I am not sure how good Karn is in the current metagame but I like lists like this better.

How to Play

Help your opponent reach enlightenment by ridding them of all their attachments (permanents) and then make sure their one remaining object of desire (the goth chick on your side of the board) seals their fate and wins you the game.

You use all your resources to exhaust all your opponents resources and then you either overtake them with Lili or an enchantment of one kind or another, or you draw Dark Rituals and then you die.

Deck discussion for Karnless Legacy Pox V2

Waiting for someone to show me the light and make a viable Nethergoyf Bitterblossom build.

I was born for such a challenge.

Are we talking legacy? Pox specific?

I would rather learn how to swallow razorblades than play modern nowadays, so Legacy for sure. And there, you kind of need to go full on black stompy route with Ancient Tomb or, if you are stuck 2015, the Smallpox route, so that's kind of what I am looking for. Not that I would build it anytime soon, but it has been quite a while since any real innovation has come to the Pox strategy. Court of Ambition and Karn, the Great Creator were really the last two attempts at plugging some holes in the gameplan.

The sad part is, I've been experimenting with Ancient Tomb ideas lately myself, and pairing it with Bitterblossom means you're gunna be bleeding like a vampire's dinner, so you can't do what my gut immediately wanted (will) do, which is pair Bitterblossom with Root Maze to turn tempo into material as you smile and win the game through attrition.

The major synergy I see right off from Goyf/Bitterblossom is the enchantment (buffs Goyf when dead), and all the material advantage from recursion/tokens that would let you run nukes/sac outlets/etc, but I'm not sure how I'd capitalize on that yet beyond pairing them with Saga to fetch into a lifegain card or a sac outlet (to eat tokens) or self-sacker (which buffs the hell out of Goyf once it's in the grave). Which would enjoy running Ancient Tombs so you can turbo on Saga/make the second token and equip the same turn. Or maybe do it with Mox Diamond in a land-based build instead (with Life from the Loam and/or Intuition package?), which would cut on the bleeding and give you the turn 1 Bitterblossom for serious output (especially on the play game 1 when opponent's got very few mainboarded answers to an enchantment), or turn 1 discard/Goyf combo that makes your Goyf a 2/3 beater. That might let you do the Root Maze strategy as well, as you could do a turn 1 Goyf/Maze smile/pass. Your Goyf will only be a 1/2, but you're up 2 tempo minimum and probably an extra one if opponent has to play a fetch land.

I'm just thinking out loud here

There was a pox 5-0 that used Bitterblossom to protect the monarchy from Court of Ambition like years and years ago. The problem with Bitterblossom nowadays is that games are too fast for the tokens to matter, and the decks against which it might matter run things like Prismatic Ending.

A lot of the value of the enchantment's value nowadays lies in the Tribal type, hence the goyfs. Especially Barrowgoyf as it can mill it over. And why I like it in Pox builds cause of the ease of discarding it.
