Deck Description

-1/-1 Counters became big again with the release of Amonkhet, but who woulda thought you could win by putting them on YOUR creatures?

How to Play

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE Nest of Scarabs, or Hapatra OUT. This deck will not work without them. Once you get either out, just play your creatures and put their -1/-1 counters on them, and get a TON of tokens.

Don't worry though, your counters won't stay on your creatures. They'll move onto your opponents creatures thru Defiant Greatmaw, or Decimator Beetle. Or alternatively, get rid of all of them with Hapatra's Mark.

Need to get rid of something, and -1/-1 counters aren't doing it well enough for you? Collective Brutality will get rid of those pesky spells for you, and Fatal Push will kill something outright for you.

Enjoy!

Deck discussion for Insects of DOOM

I really like the deck. It's something a beginner who picked up the B/G Planeswalker deck could work towards. You have two themes going on, I would try to focus them a little more.

Add: Ruthless Sniper x1, Splendid Agony x2, Archfiend of Ifnir x2, Horror of the Broken Lands x3
Remove: Festering Mummy x1, Collective Brutality x1, Hapatra's Mark x1, Decimator Beetle x2, Unburden x3

Your discard creatures also give -1/-1 counters but can do it more over time. Agony may not be as good as Brutality but the counters stay on and is instant speed. Horror is cheaper to cycle than Unburden which you could still play in the Sideboard if you wanted.

Sideboard:
Add: Scarab Feast x3 & Dissenter's Deliverance x2
Remove: Stinging Shot x3 & Bonds of Mortality x2

Both adds can cycle which is on theme and will take care of threats that are common in Standard. Flyers and Gods aren't prevalent in Standard which makes the cards to remove EXTREMELY situational.

Firstly, thanks for the advice! I switched out the cards in the sideboard that you suggested.

However, main board, I prefer the cards that are in there, because the cycle/discard - 1/-1 counters are supposed to be a side- theme. The deck is supposed to work more off of the big creatures that put counters on things. However, Collective and Unburden (which you can target yourself with, when you need to) are supposed to be there to back up that theme, as well as provide some control. I do like Splendid Agony, and I'm somewhat tempted to take Unburden out for it, but I don't think I will, because Unburden is one of my only ways to discard.

The other cards you mention make the cycle approach a little more of a main theme than I'd like, but again, thanks!
