Deck Description

How do you get low-mana, huge creatures out there? By cheating them out! This deck relies on Torpor Orb or Sundial of the Infinite to get strong guys out there without having to suffer the drawbacks.

How to Play

You will need either Torpor Orb or Sundial of the Infinite, so I've added Fabricate and Shred Memory (transmute) to help search for them...or if you already have them, you can use those cards to get a hunted horror or a dreadnought.

In case people have removal spells, I've added in some mana leaks to protect your orb/sundial/creatures. I've also included some removal (doom blade/unmake) and some revival spells (unearth).

Other than that, use the orb and sundial on the field when summoning the fatties out there so their effects don't trigger. Then go to town! >=)

Deck discussion for Cheat the Fatties Out There!

So whatcha guys think? Right now I'm considering taking out Unearth, maybe replacing them with Victim of Night. Plus, it would make the deck Modern Legal. Thanks for any inputs!

i agree, unearth doesn't do anything for you here, since you don't have a way of putting cards in you grave. i recommend taking them out and using all four of the shred memory. +1!

Thanks! Replaced unearth with victim of night for removal/delay and sideboarded your suggestions (fabricate also helps search for the orb/sundial/eater of days depending on the situation). I had to rearrange the lands since I didn't have any islands in there the first time! I didn't catch that! oops! =)

looking at all the transmute cards (http://www.mtgvault.com/cards/search/?q=transmute&searchtype=text&ps=20), i recommend using dimir infiltrator instead of Fabricate. yes, they don't get you the eaters, but they can function as a chump blocker if need be, and getting a hunted horror should be enough most of the time.

have you thought about go for the throat? it seems more reliable than the victim of night, and it destroys huntmasters and Vampire/zombie tribals as well.

Two good catches! Thanks! Yeah, I was on the fence if I should add in another Doom Blade, but I figured you can always sideboard Doom Blades, Victim of Nights, and Go for the Throats hehehe.

have you thought about vapor snag in place of unmake? its much cheaper, and the damage might help you. also, it lets you rescue one of your guys in a pinch

Another good catch! You're full of em! Does damage, slows them down, can rescue my guys, drops the mana curve. =)

I was thinking about adding Dark Rituals and Phyrexian Dreadnoughts, but those would make it illegal in Modern. Plus, replacing Eater of Days with the dreadnoughts would up the deck cost by at least $50. Thoughts?

You could make a Legacy version, it would need stifles, and probably force of will as well

Hmmmm. I suppose so. And if I'm going to up the costs, I should add some Watery Graves. Hmmm.....

OMG Northy! You're back! Welcome back! Hope you had a productive time. This place was dead without you (except for the article decks awaiting your return heheheh).

Well...apparently your real life friends are lame! Just joking.
You always have a place here, for what it is worth!

Your use of Torpor Orb is spot on, people need to take notice of this deck when trying to use the card correctly!

The Dimir Infiltrator is so very versatile! Nice change there!

Wow hey guys! Thanks so much for the compliments! Truth be told, I was following the two of you and all your great decks. You two inspired me to start posting decks!

If you want to make this deck, and IF you have the money, and that's IF (and you don't care about it not being modern-legal), then I would definitely suggest putting in the blue/black dual lands and of course the phyrexian dreadnoughts. 12/12 trample for ONE mana? There's a reason it's $10+ a pop.

And another truth be told...when you first told me you proxied a deck of mine...my first thoughts were, "That rocks, but he must not be that great of a deck builder...and just needs ideas."

But looking at how solid your decks are...it became even more of a great honor that you would play one of my decks!!!

Now, that we are finished patting each other on the backs, keep up the good work!
Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

I changed up the deck a little bit. Most notably, the removal spells. Just doom blades and unmakes for now. I added mana leaks to protect the creatures and orbs/sundials. Putting in the treacherous pit dwellers was a mistake. They can lightning bolt them on their turn and gain control of them if I have the sundial out, not the orb (you can only use the sundial on your turn, so if they bolt the dweller on THEIR turn, they get to control the dweller).

HAD to put in the phyrexian dreadnought. I don't have any myself, but I will get some eventually. 12/12 trample for 1 mana that you can even search for with fabricate? Crazy good!

LOL, since when are Islands and Swamps illegal in all the formats? Must be a bug on this site, LOL!
I changed up the sideboard a bit in case some of the monsters are too expensive...most notably the dreadnoughts. You can always replace him with creatures in the sideboard to save some money. I know mtgvault is budget-friendly...

Friend, you get to pick which expansion you want the lands to come from. You picked M15, which isn't legal. :) You can change them out to any legal expansion. I like the Urza Saga lands.

NIce touch giving consideration to the budget friendly folks out there!

Ohhhh ha ha ha. No wonder. I was like, um, okay, illegal swamps and forests? LOL!
Yeah, the deck cost is cut in half without the dreadnoughts there. There are still lots of other creatures that'll work, such as leveler, sky swallower, and boldwyr heavyweights.

Hushwing Gryff for the win.

Suggestions and comments are welcomed.

Would greatly suggest adding Gryff.

Heheh. Thanks! I'll definitely consider it. I also took out the 2 sundials and replaced with 2 more orbs for a total of 4 orbs. I most definitely like the orbs more since they have no activation cost. I know the sundials may be able to protect your creatures when they play spells on your turn, but still. The extra mana is worth it to use for mana leaks...or removal on their turns...
