Deck Description

Final version of my Red/Blue Sneaky Aggro deck, which I decided to name Kiln Distortion (to help point out the main combo)

---Creatures---
The Core creatures here are Kiln Fiends. Kiln Fiend gets super powerful from your cheap little spells while. Goblin Guide is there for a power 1 mana cost creature drop. Plated Geopede is there to help put the pressure on, being a 5/5 on turn 3 if you play a fetch land. Ruinous Minotaur can help be a win-con in this deck. Hurts yourself, but can really help deal damage, if you make it unblockable (or using Smoldering Spires). Another "Enchanted" Creature is Wind Zendikon. It's a 2/2 flyer that uses 1 land as a body. It's just awesome for this deck, lets you attack with a 2/2 flyer on turn 2 for only 1 blue mana. Also has great Synergy with Ruinous Minotaur (explained in Combo section)

---Land---
Basically, you keep it about 20 lands if you want to keep the quickness, 22 for Standard, and 24 for longer games. I'm at 22 for balance. Plenty of fetch lands for pumping Plated Geopede and a few Smoldering Spires for land-based attempts at a free hit.

---Spells---
You got your standard burn spells, Lightning Bolt for player and Flame Slash for creatures. Nothing to see here. Staggershock is the same, but it's rebound ability really helps, does 4 damage for 3 mana, dividable by 2. Like a super forked bolt. It's rebound also helps keep my critters pumped up. Spell Pierce - basically, this deck should never get past turn 5. That's why Spell Pierce is here, to be an excellent low cost counter, helping protect my Kiln Fiends. Most of the time, they wont have an additional 2 mana to stop the counter. Distortion Strike is the very idea of the deck, use it on Kiln Fiend to make it a 5/2 unblockable for 2 turns, or put on a Plated Geopede, then use Scalding Tarn to hit for 6, or use it on Ruinous Minotaur as a easy way to hit for 6 damage. Ponder is there to help plan out your moves and have slight card advantage.

---Combos---
Obviously, combo #1 is Kiln Fiend with a Distortion Strike. Very deadly move. Another type of combo would be Plated Geopede with Scalding Tarn, swing for 5/5 first strike on T3. Then we have Ruinous Minotaur + Wind Zendikon + Distortion Strike. Put DS on Ruinous Minotaur, then attack with him and Wind Zendikon, then after damage, sac Wind Zendikon to save a land.

---Sideboard---
1) Manabarbs. Eat apart stalling U/W Control Decks.
2) Into the Roil. Bounce back planeswalkers or
expensive artifacts/enchantments.
3) Swerve - redirect spot removal.
4) Shatter. Anti Artifact spell.
5) Unstable Footing. Bonus to Kiln fiend + eliminates damage preventions and protection, like Kor Firewalkers.

PERFECT PLAY
Turn 1 - Mountain, Goblin Guide, attack (18)
Turn 2 - Island, Kiln Fiend, Goblin attack (16)
Turn 3 - Mountan, Distortion Strike, 2x Lighting Bolt life (6 damage), Kiln Fiend attacks for 12/2 unblockable, Goblin attacks (-4)

Yeah, it can kill THAT fast.

Deck discussion for Kiln Distortion T2

I really wish Kiln had trample! Check out MY SLY deck. Need help

kiln really doesnt need trample with distortion strike and lightning bolt to get around or blow away any potential blockers

In the sideboard i would switch out swerve for negate, swerve has its moments when it can change the target of a path to exile/terminate from your kiln fiend to an opponents wall of omens or bloodbraid elf but negate also stops things like day of judgement which could lead to a very tough situation for this list. I might also fold a way to incorporate Wrap in Flames as an additional way to find a path through my opponents defenses but i am not sure on that call because if youre playing against some form of a control deck it can become a dead card rather easily (but with a good sideboard plan in game two the card could be easily taken out). But over all i really love this deck, hell, i even have my own version sleeved up and ready to play! and thanks to this list i will be making a few changes to make the deck even more deadly =) over all i really love this deck idea

That is a good argument, but at the same time, I'm only focused on things that can target my Kiln Fiend, Swerve can redirect Day of Judgment too, mind you. Also works on Lightning Bolt, Doom Blade, Tendrils of Corruption, Polymorph. Once I assemble the right cards, I'll play test and see what I prefer.

Swerve wont work on day of judgment at all, day of judgment doenst target anything "Destroy all creatures." so how can the spell be redirected? Also, negate stops every one of those spells listed that would be targeting your kiln tern. Negate is just a better over all "counter".( i ordered the cards =) ill be reporting my findings soon hopefully)

I am very impressed with this deck. There is only one other type of deck that i know of that can win on turn three. I agree with Cupdog on switching the swerve for Negate. The only thing that you will have to watch out for is Burn decks. If they go first and if they have three mana open with one lightning bolt in their hand you still can't spell pierce it on turn three. I would also try to slip in something to help you draw more cards even though you have the ponders, the more you draw the merrier. I also like how this deck only has 4 rares. I will try this out sometime.

If I'm playing a burn deck, I would probably drop my Plated Geopede on Turn 2, then drop Kiln Fiend on Turn 3 (with a spell pierce, mind you.) Then, Turn 4, crack a fetch land (Plated Geopede gets +4/+4), throw down 2 distortion strikes on each, 1 lightning bolt, and spell pierce JUST in case.

Without Spell Pierce - I just did 20 damage (Geopede - 6, Kiln Fiend - 11, Lightning Bolt - 3).
With Spell Piercing on of their spells - I just did 23 damage. (+3 to Kiln Fiend)

Wow, never thought of that. Check out my deck called "Devastating Kiln". It uses the same idea as yours, and the other turn three win condition that i mentioned before. I gave you credit for your turn three combo. Tell me what you think. Also, I was talking about playing AGAINST a burn deck. if they have a few lightning bolts or searing blazes in their hand you could still lose either your Geopede or Kiln Fiend on turn three or two. Altogether though, I love this idea and will be trying it mixed with the Devastating Summons combo on Friday.

warning to you: standard runs a TON of 1 and 2 mana creature kill. You'll lose to Jund, naya, bant, grixis control, and allies if you aren't very careful.

Dont worry, Kiln Fiend wont hit the board if I'm worried about heavy spot removal, that or next game I side in swerves. Spell Pierces can be a life saver.

Yeah, your sideboard is actually very nice, and spell pierce is useful unless you're going against ramp.
I've been experimenting with kiln fiend myself now and I find that both green and black are great colors for it. Green can pump and protect it, and also give trample. Colossal Might and vines of the vastwood are really useful. Black can run a ton of hand control and spot removal to get rid of blockers or destruction spells which pumping the fiend. Try out different colors with it. Have fun.

This is crying out for Jace, TMS.

Yeah, if you want him to be on the board, for what, 2 seconds? There's limited protection in this deck, all reserved for Kiln Fiend or anything affected by Distortion Strike. Jace is nowhere near needed, this is an all out aggro deck with tricks to get a sneak kill. Jace is, at best, an expensive ponder if you cant keep him out on the field.

Add in Assault Strobe. That way you can hit for fourteen and up without much difficulty.

nice deck man. im not sure if im a huge fan of the zendikons though :( anyway since you seem to like quick combo decks you should check out my suicide phyrexians deck that can consistantly win on turn 3 even more than the kiln feind decks all you do is play immolating soul eater pay 9 life pumping him up to a 10/1 swinging then either giving him infect double strike or flinging him for the win and you can do the same thing with molten-steel dragon. enjoy http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=294740

What are your thoughts on Artful Dodge, It can be 2 spell's in one card same turn:P But you would need 2 blue mana.

Why use Shatter instead of Crush? 1 less cost, it just can't be used on artifact creatures. An if anyone would like to check out my vampire deck i'd appreciate it.
