Deck Description

This deck is built around getting the 5 basic lands out as quick as possible, when they are you the rest pretty much runs itself. If anyone can suggest a way of getting the land out quicker please comment as all help is appreciated.

How to Play

Nice and simple. Get the 5 basic lands out as quickly as you can using the fetch lands and then the rest is pretty straight forward.

Big creatures to dominate the battlefield, Elvish Piper and Maelstrom Archangel to help speed things up and get creatures like Progenitus out quicker.

Legacy Weapon for removal and Samite Elders for creature protection against all 5 colours when targeting one of the many 5 colour creatures in the deck.

Spirit of Resistance also works nicely with the 5 colour creatures to add a bit of protection to the player. This card has saved me a few time in the past.

Etched monstrosity is a nice creature to cast if I am struggling to get the 5 lands of each colour out or I drop him in play with Elvish Piper and use 5 lands to remove the counter from him which pump him to a 10/10 and give me some card draw to use with Maelstrom or the Piper.

Prismatic Omen has come in handy a few times with this deck and of course one of my favourite cards...Draco, 6 colourless mana for a 9/9 flyer :)

Not much else to say really, I hope you enjoy looking over the deck as much as I enjoy playing it :)

Deck discussion for All About The 5 Basic Lands

get rid of scion of the ur dragon. theres no reason for him to be in there other than he is all five colors. his ability is useless in this deck. add the 5 bringers if your so up to colored lands. oh and you might want to add knight of new alara for a giant kick

Thanks for taking the time to comment. You are correct in that Scion is only in there due to being a permenant of each colour, i also chose the card though as it is a flyer and helps me defend against other flying creatures when needed. I do use the dragons ability sometimes to hit my opponent for 9 damage when unblocked by finding draco and putting it in the graveyard. Im not sure about using the bringers as that means dropping 5 creatures to get 1 of each bringer in and the main core of the deck is built around the permenents of each colour as they work well with the coalition victory and the samite elders. I do however like your idea of using the Knight of new alara, I may take another look at my deck and see if I can drop a couple of them in there.

Thanks again for your comment

I'd call it theme-based. It's based on the theme of "Chroma" and "Sunburst" and stuff...so there ya go.

mate nice to see thios one up and running again, its lost the sexiness of the old dragons but malestrom angels a sexy card, ref scion add x 2 Progenitus instead and rely on your malstrom angels to cast him maybe even and elvish piper or 2 id go down to 2 legacy weapons and 3 draco's for 2 pipers, then change disenchants for naturalizes as youll cast em easier as white is only a splash in here, other than that a bit of quick kill such as terminate or doomblade would help but not really sure what id loose, id just buy 4 of each as there quiet cheap and sideboard em in and out play testing what you could loose for now, but i think 2 elvish pipers, (working similar to master transmuter) and the Progenitus should help, Progenitus is another threat other than draco and hes all colours and hard as hell, and a better option than the scion card, and the pipers just to help him function :-) remember protecting the piper with your samite elders could be a lot of fun considering the monsters your carrying in here.

other than that if on a budget swap the scions for 2 more of the 8/8 elements to compliment the horde of notions, but Progenitus on the board is way cooler.

I will make some of the changes mate. I looked at progentius before as it's an awesome creature but was unsure about playing him. Will run a couple in the near future. Was also thinking of dropping the lay of the land for better land finders. They are quick to cast but only fetch me one colour at a time. What do u think?

no id keep them as there a different mana curve to the cultivates so you have options for early game and a little later.

how about dropping the lay of the lands for 3 Elvish Pipers? They are more useful than the lay of the lands and I can always get 4 land of any colour out to play the piper where as the lay of the land would only find me one land which is useless if I am struggling for the others. what do you think about that trade off?

Prismatic Omen to make your lands every basic type.
I personally don't like Piper. It tends to die before doing what it's supposed to (destroy, exile, counter).

Thanks for taking the time to look at my deck. I have prismatic omens in my shopping cart for my next round of purchases. Im going to take the 3 lay of the lands out I think as they offer little help in bringing the lands I need, the scouting treks and harrows seem to be a lot more effective. Also looking to add a couple of collective restraints to the deck to help hold off opponents, the effectiveness of that card should be very nice in conjunction with the prosmatic omen. I agree that the piper gets shot easily, he is mainly in there at the moment to help me get creatures out in the event that i cant get my 5 basic lands out fast enough (which doesnt happen to often) i may look at taking him out when I have the prismatic omens in there :)

Thanks again for the comment

I know it's slow, but Kaleidostone could help in a pinch if you wanna semi-hardcast Maelstrom Archangel.

try 'land tax' if you put a little more white in there

0

Thanks for the idea, I am trying to keep all of the land finding to green if possible as to not upset the land balance early in the game. Landtax is an awesome card however the scouting trek and harrows seem to find my lands pretty well at the moment. food for thought though so thank you. Thanks again for looking at the deck

Nice idea, and I like it, just cant depend on it though. I generally only use 1 scounting trek all game to pull out my lands then use Elvish piper or maelstrom archangel to pull out the rest of my killer cards. I think the idea you have is good though, just not right for this deck.......might use it in another though :)

I like this deck, it looks fun. already mentioned is Prismatic Omen, and Last Stand would work real well with it. and the treasure hunt idea is excellent.

Prismatic omen will go in this deck I am sure, I already have it on order to go in, treasure hunt i dont think is right for this deck and last stand i will have to think about. Please look at Collective Restraint and let me know what you think. I think it would be a decent card to hold off attackers in single and multiplayer games. Any other ideas are very much welcomed :)

Shard Convergence would be good, since you get to search for every type of land but a forest, but it's a 4 drop. Cultivate or Kodama's Reach let you search for two lands and put one into play and the other in your hand. Joiner Adept let's each land you control tap for any color of mana. Rampant Growth would probably be good as well for early color searchers.

Thanks for your comment. I like the ideas you have there and your card knowledge is obviously vast. I am pretty happy with the land finders that I have at the moment though. Your idea of the Joiner Adept though is a nice idea although I prefer prismatic omen as it makes each land every basic land type (which helps cast draco and will help with collective restraint if i play it) and being each basic land type I can also tap for any mana I need. I appreciate the comment though, any other feedback you have will be gratefully receieved. Thank you

ever think of cards with the domain ability? like collective restraint, strength of unity, collapsing borders, global destruction? They say do something for "each baisic land among land types you control". I made a deck based on the domain ability and it works pretty well. Check it out, some of the cards might be useful in this deck. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=128117

Yes I have considered domain. Collective restraint is a card that I want to work into the deck. Looking at getting a couple in there. Not really looked at the other cards though. Will give them a look and try them out :) Thanks for the comment

how about shard convergence for each land type

I'm trying to keep my land finders to green only as my land balance works well for me at the moment and I feel adding more white would change that. I have lots of green land in there so I am pretty much guaranteed to draw green along with a green land finder. I just think it's a little risky to be mixing the land finder colours that's all. Food for thought though thank you :)

Prismatic omen, prismatic omen, prismatic omen. And also you could look at the bringers to replace the scion. They are single colored but they can be played cheaper by using one of each color

Prismatic omen will be in this deck in the near future. Going to lose the lay of the lands to put 3 in the deck. As for the bringers I have looked at them before and decided against them as the main theme is a permanent of each colour to work with samite elder and coalition victory but now I have taken the coalitions out of the deck I will give the bringers another look for sure. Thank you for the comment matey

What about any of the fetch lands? Plus there's Terremorphic expanse and Evolving wilds. Helps get specific lands out in a hurry.

Consider a Thousand-Year Elixir at all? With that out you can use Elvish piper or Elder the turn they come out :)

Nice idea thanks. I may think about that for other decks i have in mind. Although it would be advantageous for this deck I don't think I can find anything to drop for the elixirs and I don't have anything to fetch the card when I need it. Good thinking though and I appreciate the comment

Have you considered Summoning Trap? It eases the cost of your humongous creatures with hideous mana costs by letting you get them out of the top of your library at instant speed. It's a staple of the Emrakul deck in standard and extended right now.

Thank you for your comment. To be honest the land finders that I use do a good job of getting the different colours of mana out that I need. The Elvish piper helps to get the creatures into play when I am struggling for the 5 basic colours but that is not very often. I will be adding Prismatic Omens to the deck as soon as possible which will one again help with getting the basic lands into play as all of my lands will be all basic land types then. Thanks for the comment though :)

Thanks for the comment. I was going to put a sliver overlord or queen in the deck but I decided against it for a couple of reasons. First of all they aint the cheapest cards to buy when I last looked, but secondly I have a lot of 5 colour creatures in there with pretty cool abilities that fit well with the deck like Maelstrom Archangel for example. Thanks for the suggestion though and I do appreciate it, I am a fan of the sliver queen/overlord if I ever come across any in the future maybe I will drop the Fusion Elementals to play a couple. Thanks again
