Deck Description

Shadowborn Apostle is key to the deck. Legendary Demons for the win.

How to Play

Altar's Reap generates extra cards. Killing Glare to knock out some early creatures. Evolving Wilds to search for the specific lands I need (or Swamps early), in case I draw one of the multi-color demons. Legendary demons for the Apostles to search out. Death Denied & Empty the Catacombs to regenerate Apostles or pull back some demons for play later. Found a mini combo with Master of the Feast & Fate Unraveler. Master of the Feast gives me a demon playable without needing to wait for 6 Apostles. Dictate of Erebos pairs well with the sacrificing nature of the deck.

I assume the demon will always be played using the apostle and you will empty your hand quickly, in that case you need a draw mecanic
-Underworld Connections

as a removal if you dont care too much of you apostle, you could switch doom blade with bone splinters, this way you are not screwed when you face a black deck(or keep it in sideboard when you face a black deck)

Crypt Incursion would keep your life up, assuming your appostle are sacrificed often or die as blocker, you would be able to gain easily 4 or 5 times 3 life, this would compensate the life lost to draw card using underworld connection(it would do better then elixir)

I dont think you need diabolic tutor, since your apostle have a search librairy already and litturgy of blood is really expensive even if it gives you back 3 mana, at the point you most likely have an empty hand unless you change something to draw more

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the Underworld Connections/Crypt Incursion combo. Crypt Incursion was a card that I was considering back when I was also looking at -Dark Prophecy- I am a bit leery about including Crypt Incursion though in case I need to recycle the Apostle's back in. I also considered several different Demons, but it made more sense to me to just go with one and play off of that.

But if I use just Underworld Connections, I could gain life back with the Elixir or throwing in a Staff of the Death Magus.

I was trying to avoid the Innistrad block as they aren't going to be standard for much longer. That's why Killing Glare is in the sideboard, I should be able to generate a lot of mana (esp. if I use your draw mechanic), then Glare can kill any large creatures that are in the way.

And yes you're correct - the Demon is intended for play from the library using the Apostle.

You mention about recycling your apostle from your graveyard in your librairy, but with 20 in your deck, there should be plenty left and I dont see a mecanic that would benefit from returning them to your librairy unless you realy draw a lot of cards

the staff would do the job in a mono color deck

tragic slip is from dark ascension and it would bea great removal spell in your deck

That's a good point. I took your suggestion about the Staff, since I don't have a lot of cards that generate a draw, the only reason to have to put my library back in the deck would be if all the demons ended up in the graveyard.

Also - I removed Liliana to add 2 more of the Lord of the Void. Since the Diabolic Tutors were in there to specifically search for Liliana I took those out as well and added 4 Desecration Demon (from r2r). I think that should give enough options for demons from the library and also a fall-back in my hand once I run out of the Shadowborn.

I don't even think you need 4 Lord of the Voids generally you will be focused on using the apostles. Skirsdag High Priest is a boss in any creature based deck
