Deck Description

Mono black with emphasis on the Exalted ability.

How to Play

Key is getting out as many Exalted creatures as soon as possible. With a good draw, I can usually play a creature with Exalted on each of the first 2-3 turns. After that it's a matter of boosting one of the creatures already out with Mark of the Vampire + Exalted or using Diabolic Tutor. Nefarox or Elbrus are typically the first ones I look for. Liliana's Shade is really good with the Exalted ability + it's mana ability. PW Liliana is a bonus if I get her out. Doom Blade and Murder keep my opponents larger creatures off the field while I chip away at their available blockers each turn with a single attacking creature.

Deck discussion for The Exalted Ones

I don't know how often you get Griselbrand out but it seems like that'd be difficult. If you're running mono-black I would definitely look at putting in a tormented soul or two, can't have to hurt an unblockable exalted, especially with elbrus equipped to it

I've actually been able to play Griselbrand once - but it was before the way the deck currently looks. I like the idea of adding tormented souls - didn't even consider it. And I think removing Griselbrand and any (all?) of the bigger creatures would not damage the dynamics. That would allow for 3 Tormented Souls and a third Duskmantle Prowler. I might be able to take out some of those sorceries (maybe a Disentomb & Increasing Ambition or something) in order to add a couple more Mark of the Vampires or some Dark Favors.

Essence Harvest as well.

Cathedral of War's something that you might want to get your hands on too

I had not heard of Cathedral of War before. I wish it didn't have to enter the battlefield tapped, but definitely something I will look into getting. I should see if I have any on hand - limit cost to me later :)

I like Essence Harvest - I'll have to consider adding that (and I'm pretty sure I have a set). It would give me an opportunity to deal damage later when a solo attacker is not enough to break through (aside from Tormented Soul) - especially with the extreme lack of trample in this deck.

Looks all around solid. Maybe something like Darkness, if you aren't meaning to keep it Extended. Or emergency stuff like Damnation could work.

Hmm ... and here I made a white exalt deck. No matter!

I love the deck idea.

The mana curve looks a tad high, especially considering that you only have 20 lands.

Tenacious Dead is a great chump blocker and exalt user. He is also WAY cheaper than Gravecrawler. I would recommend 4 of em.

Sengir Vampire. Why do you not have him? Your opponents either have to block him, making him stronger, or let him tear them up with a minimum of 6 damage a turn. Ouch.

If you want to be really mean, splashing green for trample isn't a bad idea (Rancor).

Other advantages of splashing green: Golgari abilities that take advantage of enemy graveyards would love it here, since you will either be chipping away at blockers or punching their face.
