Deck Description

Very budget Combo/Aggro deck depending on what you need it to be. Won 3rd out of 30 in its first standard appearence and that was W/O a sideboard! No expensive fetch lands. the deck is actually quite effective and surprises people with its versatility. ALright here goes turn 4 win. Please note this happens way more often then it would seem it would.
Turn 1 Forest or Island
Turn 2 Land (At least 1 forest) play Harabaz Druid
Turn 3 Drop any two-cost ally with your mana and another one with harabaz druid.
Turn 4 Land any 3 or less costing ally or if you miss land another 2 drop then you play crab umbra on harabaz druid and play fireball for the win!

Nice, surprisingly this does work really well great job.

Thank you man. Its very budget, very effective, and catches people unawares. It took 3rd in its first standard as I mentioned If I had some misty rain forests and a nice side board to go with it I could have done better. It's just a versatile deck you never know what your gameplan is gonna be till you see those first 7 cards and then you are able to go off on people aggro or combo and even mill.

doesnt crab umbra require blue mana?

0
Posted 07 April 2011 at 05:47

Yes it does you play ther crab umbra using the druid so it creates 4 blue then you cast you untap with leftover mana then you go infinite with the fireball.

Fireball is red... play Blue Sun Zenith so there are only two mana color... U/G

Mill is too easy to counter, fireball will do the trick since he doesn't need any mountains

I cast with the druid anyhow and sometimes i dont go infinite when i cast fireball so blue son wouldn't be a win unless i go infinite but I can still normally do 8 or 9 with the fireball. while blue sun is a funnier win condition fireball has just been working out better for me.

i likes it, though maybe cometstorm or red sun's zenith instead of fireball. also green sun's zenith will get u your haribaz druids. if u include any of those, be sure to have some right of replication for your ramp!

I normally have a harabaz druid it seems. and if I don't i go aggro with the deck and use the umbra on the draw guy too get two draws out of him. I like cometstorm but it is no different than fireball if it's countered it's countered you know. the way it's used i would hope to only need but 1 burn spell hit and win lethal damage or not. though if banefire was standard legal that would be more of what i was looking for. though you got me thinking some preordains might be a valid option in this deck. So TY indirectly. my deck is too fast for rite of replication to ever be needed though i may sideboard it and use it against control. TY again

For fun you could add stuff like splinter twin, rite of replication.

Also some stuff that can really be nice are leyline of anticipation (really awesome), or Renegade Doppelganger to have more of what you actually need, also mimic vat isn't bad.

It looks like +1/+1 creatures are just there to fill in so it all about your choices really...

i would take out Asceticism and umara raptor and add in some draw cards like preordain, thats just me though, great deck idea

0

Asceticism needs to be at least side boarded though it stops people from playing day of judgement especially when you have two untapped druids :) though preordain might be nice ty for that.

Asceticism doesn't save you from day of judgement...
Unless you are referring to having enough untapped mana/your infinite mana combo to regenerate them all.

I am glad you realized this as it is my only flying defense i wish more allies had flying they have the one that meks them all for a turn but he sucks unles you play leyline of anticipation.

There's also the green ally that obliterates flying.

I suppose that is true Nianque though he becomes useless if your opponent has no flyers which is why i went with an actual flyer to double down as an attacker.

Ty for commenting on my deck(Sarcasm) I looked at your deck though and why the 0/1 token maker? most of the other stuff makes sense but why the 0/1 token maker even with Tez? In the future plz leave a comment on the respective deck before advertising your own. I will leave this up this time for everyone to give you a hand this time as artifacts decks are not my thing so I'm not of much help.

it seems like it would only provide 3 mana instead of 4

0
Posted 12 April 2011 at 16:23

It provides one for each ally if I play 1harbaz 2+3 of the two drops as stated and 4 umara raptor thats 4 which means you can create 4 mana untap with 3 and have one floating.

The only real weakness I can see here is Black Sun's Zenith or Virulent Wound to pick off your druid Asceticism or not. Maybe sideboard some mana leaks or negates for that possibility?

yes I like the way you think those are definite sideboard options.

turn aside for the 1 mana cost instead of 2, just in case you don't have aceticism out and you need to save your harabaz. also, consider canopy cover. its good against early game creature kill troubles, which is what you'll run into against a black or red deck anyway. I run the same deck, but with green sun zenith, no fireball, canopy cover, and genesis wave. It won a couple tourny's so far. It's the second most fun deck i've played with. I just started my account here on mtg vault, and I'll be putting up my decks soon, but I really think it was an awesome idea for fireball. Outside the box thinking in magic always impresses me. I would love just to get the look on people's faces when they see the fireball. I would love it even more after they took the 1.5 minutes to actually comprehend what had just happened to them in a type 2 tourny :). It's great. definite props to the idea. regardeless of even that, its budget, and its getting tougher to make a successful type 2 tourny deck at budget. If I had the choice, I would take away plainswalkers simply because they are mainly for people who can afford them unless someone just gets really lucky. Again tho, props.

Need at least 4 allies for the combo to go off.

To that end, I would highly recommend you run Splinter Twin. A Harabaz Druid enchanted with Crab Umbra and Splinter Twin goes infinite even if it's the only ally on the field, so long as you have at least one untapped land to work with:

Tap the Druid to make a Druid token. Tap that token for 2 mana, then tap one land to activate Crab Umbra. Tap the enchanted Druid again to make a second token, then tap the token to untap with Crab Umbra.

Goes infinite from here, with the plus side that it also produces an infinite amount of Harabaz Druid tokens entering the battlefield (which is useful if you have other creatures with Ally triggers, like all of your other creatures have. Infinite mill w/ Halimar Excavator!)

Most definitely it is different I love this suggestion the best. but then i might actually have to splash some mountains in and i can't affor the good fetch lands so this could become problamatic though if i get a hold of some it's on!

This looks like the type of deck a close friend of mine would make and play against me and laugh evily as I secretly plan to burn the deck the minute he's not looking. I'd hate playing with that deck of yours!

I think the only way someone could attempt to slow you down is if they had land and creature destroying cards. Maybe a black-based deck? I don't know that I'm right, I don't quite have the hang of the game yet. Tell me if my hunch is right! :p

Oh black kill decks slow this down I never claimed it was unbeatable the thing is its hard to keep this deck down it has so many creatures in it that I just keep dropping them i'm unfazed by you killing A creature it's things like I donn't know white with day that finish this thing. that's why asceticsm in here is to stop the day from wiping my whole field which will make them ? whether or not to play it and it also stops my creatures from being targeted :p

The land on turn two needs to be a mountain right? Since the druid can only produve blue mana to make it infinite and you need a red for the fireball?

0
Posted 13 April 2011 at 02:37

NO! you produce a crap ton of blue with excess blue so as to untap again and produce red with one tap giving you your red so it produces 4 mana untaps for 3 correct. produce in groups of 4 mind you: u,u,u,r,u,u,u,r,u,u,u,r as many times as necessary.

One of the big things I like about this deck is the fact that you could use that mana combo to bring out multiple creatures in one turn, if you don't happen to get the four turn win combo.

0
Posted 14 April 2011 at 03:02

yes it's funny when this happens and you drop the draw guy. Sea gate loremaster then next turn if you draw a second umbra you have infinite draw as well as infinite mana so drop your deck and 4 fireballs on turn 5 potentially though this is rare that the draw guy and the druid both survive to turn 5 and I get double umbra. But funny nonetheless.

Thamk you I'm glad to see it catching on it requires a stubborn mindset when you play it though you want to just empty your hand attack with the bigger guys and ramp and draw as much as possible if that combo doesn't go off.

0
Posted 15 April 2011 at 05:32

I'm kind of confused. How is it infinite damage? Wouldn't you use up all your mana to attack and/or untap the creature the umbra is on? how do you keep getting infinite mana? also I don't think i'm understanding what fireball does. i'm new to the game and maybe im just missing something, but if I know why you have unlimited mana and how you can cause unlimited damage, i would love to try this deck

0

Alright I will try to help you here alright? Now Harabaz druid taps and makes a mana of the chosen color for each ally you control this is the key part of knowing the combo. so if i have 4 creatures he/she/it makes 4 mana as long as they all have the creature type ally which they all do. So now crab umbra untaps the druid for 3 one of which must be blue. So you tap the druid to make 4 BLUE mana and untap for 3 of it so that leaves 1 sitting there and you tap again creating 4 more giving you 5 you untap for 3 which leaves you 2 over and over. you just say how much you want to make and of which color(s) but once you have however much mana you want from the druid you create REd mana and cast Fireball for whatever amount of damage you paid for at their face. Fireball does one damage for each mana you put into it after the first mana. If you play with more people it can kill all of them at once cuz fireball also says you may pay 1 extra of ANY color to add another target. bear in mind tho it divides the damage evenly. if you want any part explained better or if your confused ask and I will gladly help.

It has done just that 2 consecutive weeks at standard however the mono black infect/pump decks are killing it as well as lotus cobra ramp with harrows and the $19 fetch lands to ramp up to ridiculousness there are 2 or 3 of these where I go. I also beat the tezz decks nasty though.

I liked this so much I built it on mtgo for like 3 tickets, then bought it on ebay total cost 18.65, and most of the cards are chinese or foil or both. The english non foil copies actually cost more. I added 4 preordain, 3 mana leak, 3 cancel. The deck is a blast to play, and for a twenty dollar bill, you can't beat it. I'm still tweaking the design, definately needs more control, but when you make 5 copies of a Blightsteel Colossus, how bad can it really be? lool

BTW I cust the graypelt hunters, cost was too high in the early game, and only run 3 blue sun's zenith and 3 crab umbra to fit in the counterspells. Also reduced the sea gate loremasters by 2 and the oran reef survivalists by to to add the preordains. flows nicely

Looks like a cool deck, gonna try it out with a few mods this week. I would have to play some mana leaks, unsummon or turn asides. Also I love infect and am pretty set on incorporating that to everything somehow. That being said I will probably add corrupted conscience for fun and some means of control if fireball isnt popping up.

I currently have a mono white infect up that maybe you could look at.
