Deck Description

A take on Tezzeret control.

The focus here, is to control the board as much as possible. The deck contains counters, kill spells, and multiple win conditions. And even easy ways of getting those conditions out.

Wurmcoil Engine, Obliterator: Board control creatures

Vault Skirge: A turn 1 or 2 drop with the potential of becoming a 5/5 Lifelinked Flyer thanks to Tezzeret. Or a 7/7 with a sword thrown on him.

The real killer here is Etched Champion. By the time he's in play his Metal Craft ability should be activated. And with a sword equiped to him. He's just about unblockable and untouchable.

Deck discussion for Tezzeret, the Forgemaster

Great start. But you need some sort of disruption other than grasp and inquisiton, I feel like you should:

-3 Black Sun's Zenith
-1 Blightsteel Colossus

+2 Mana leak
+1 Spell Pierce
+1 Mindslaver

Should help you stall out better til Forgemaster can go off. And Adding a new target of Mindslaver really help if your up against Valakut or some Boros

I originally had Mindslaver in here. But I found that if I drew the Blightsteel without having Jace to put it back into the deck I was stuck holding him til I drew Jace. So I added a 2nd Blightsteel. I'll experiment wit the counters spells though. Thanks for the help, I'm hoping to make this deck a good tournament deck.

BTW, if I can't fit Mindslaver back in, Sideboard it and remove the elixir?

Hmm if the problem lies in drawing your Forgemaster utilities maybe add in See Beyond?

Lets your draw 2 and then shuffle back in a Blightsteel or whatever.

That could be useful. Thanks.

After more test play, I made these changes.

-4 Inquisition of Kozilek / +4 Mana Leak

Let's see how it plays now.

I have, it works very well. Both in control and getting Blightsteel out. After M12 is released I feel the deck will only get better.

I feel like this deck needs more hard counterspells like stotic rebuttal or negates. Giving them the option to tap mana to keep a big spell is going to hurt.

Mana Leak tends to work pretty well in the deck. But I have stoic Rebuttal side boarded for when a need a hard counter.

hi

seems pretty solid.. one thing i would try look at, is the importance of mox opal vs another land... did a few simulated draws, and quite often i had a hand with mox and only one land and not looking forward to draw land the first 3 turns... i know the usefullness of mox, but it doesnt seem that you got enough low cost artifacts the have use for it early game, atleast not as much as another land.. i would go: -2 mox, +1 island +1 stoic... and play test on that :)

A lot of people have said that but I've never had a problem with it. The only problem I've ever had with running Mox Opal is drawing both of them. Since they are legendary I can't have both in play at once. But when Scars rotates out next year I'll be able to rectify that problem.
