Deck Description

So a few months ago I ran into a deck posted by SureWhyNot created by his friend Artemis. I really liked the idea behind it and toyed with it and made one myself. After series of playtesting I modified it to how I felt it ran better.

So to give credit where credit is due I would like to thank both SureWhyNot and Artemis for the idea.

This is a MBC deck that focuses on land destruction and does it incredibly well. In the first version I playtested a big problem I ran into was tribal stompy like goblins and elves that didn't need the land and could overwhelm me before I could lay the foundation of the control aspect down. Since then I added the ensnaring bridges and a build that would let me empty my hand on turn 1 or get close to it the majority of the time.

Also I have yet to decide on a sideboard to use, but one is in the making!

Deck discussion for Winter Void

Interesting. It seems like a much more artifact based version compared to Arty's version, which is packed with artifacts and spells. Honestly I'm unsure which is better =P

Funny enough, he has Ensnaring Bridge in his sideboard. He also has Engineered Explosives and Ratchet Bomb for those highly aggro decks that need very little lands to operate...so I'd add those too =]

Adding in Desolation to the Winter Void combo is just dirty by the way. This would be very frustrating to play against, and that's the goal, right? =P

Another thing you might want to try is replacing a few of the swamps with Vault of Whispers as a cushion for the metalcraft =]

Well I haven't finalized it yet but vault of whispers seems like a good addition. What I have for the sideboard so far is mindbreak trap for ANT sadistic sacrament. To stop combos ratchet bomb for counterbalance and stick decks. For an alternative win there is also dark depths And hexmage.

Sorry for the broken English on that post. I was on my phone :P

Its down right now but the plan is 4x Mindbreak Trap 2x Sadistic Sacrament 4x Rachet Bomb 2x Dark Depths 3x Vampire Hexmage

Mindbreak stops any storm deck in its tracks. Sadistic Sacrament can remove any win condition from a deck as long as you know what it is. Rachet Bomb is likely only way to deal with a turn 2 scepter chant or Counterbalance which can really screw up this deck. Dark Depths and Vampire Hexmage in case I can't count on Bloodghasts or they are Planeswalker heavy.

The one deck that royally screws over this one isn't even any of the above mentioned, but The Rack. Done right with me usually emptying my hand turn 1 its just too much damage to me to deal with. I would have to try out the Dark Depths combo on that to see if it would be effective. But again, Ensnaring Bridge played by the opponent would stop me in my tracks.

The problem with things like The Rack is that black has damn near no way to deal with artifacts. You could do preventative stuff like Chalice of the Void, or use Engineered Explosives, which is probably the best answer =/
