Deck Description

New deck update:
This is now a competitive version, where I modified it with no concern for cost. This should be able to compete very well with the modern metagame. Hope you all enjoy!

Thank you for your seggustions and I will try to get working on all the possibilities!

Here is the budget version:

Deck discussion for Another Try To Build Dragons!

Seems legit ... have you play-tested yet?

Also think about having some beat within/prey upon in your side, just in case you ever need hard removal.

Thundermaw Hellkite, and Balefire Dragon.... Both are some of the best dragons out there for a straight up dragon deck.

/\ this is very true. Not enough people pay attention to the god dragon of 6 years ago that was balefire.

Also Slumbering Dragon, The scariest one drop out there :P

Yeah, it's a don't fuck with me card, and the only other one drop that can really touch it is lightning bolt..... It'll give you a turn or two of safety....

No. Thundermaw and Balefire are definetly powerful and awesome, but they wouldn't fit in this deck here:

Well, I didn't expect that this deck would have gotten any attention at all. I didn't put in balefire dragon because it is an 8-drop, and I want the curve to end at 7, because of geosurge.
Thanks for the advice though :)

I second the vote for Slumbering Dragon.

You have Green in there for ramp, so how about Dragon Broodmother?

Hellkite Tyrant could be interesting. Its designed very well with trample synergy with its steal effect.

I prefer Scourge of Valkas or Hunted Dragon to Tarox Bladewing if you want to keep same mana cost. Scourge Of Valkas has good synergy with Dragon Broodmother. Thundermaw Hellkite is straight up better. Its a bad-ass that clears its own path for beatdown.

Mana-Charged Dragon is good too. Same stats as Shivan Dragon of yesteryear and it likely your opponent won't pay into its pump, but the hidden beauty of it is that you can use your forests to pump it up too...oh wait, this is modern...hmm... disregard.

Moonveil dragon is sweet. Pump one to pump them all.

Two-Headed Dragon has never worked for me. Maybe if it had first strike. I'd consider trading it out for Shivan Hellkite or Hellkite Charger. Both rule. Actually, thinking a little outside the box, maybe Steel Hellkite? Its still a dragon and it is amazing for getting rid of enchantments (which red has difficulty doing). Its almost unfair how good that card is...and its same cmc as Two-Headed dragon.

Your deck is a good start! I have always wanted to see a really good dragon deck. Your's has the potential!

Hope this helps! Check out my decks sometime. My dream is to make it to the hot list. :)

Also since your running all dragon creatures I'd throw in crucible of fire, all dragon creatures get +3/+3. It just got reprinted in m15

Umm ... what he said.

I play angels, not dragons, soooo .... I honestly know little.

However, I do vote for slumbering dragon. A good one drop is important in such a slow deck.

and because I forgot to do it before.... like +1
Keep at it!

Crucible of fire is good.

Crucible of fire is good. But what do I take out? I have found that this dragon decks are very picky about what goes in them. Also, Thundermaw is not in here just because of cost, but I will throw him in. I will just copy the deck for myself, then pimp it out and make it competitive!

I see Draco in your Sideboard so not sure if running mostly modern, but if running whatever or Legacy Dragonspeaker Shaman & Kilnmouth Dragon are very nice additions. If running modern I have had good luck with Rakdos Pit Dragon and Taurean Mauler (counting as a dragon) Crucible of Fire could add as a nice addition but won't run more then two.

Taurean Mauler is really good. What he said.... so true

Ya, Draco is a really good card if you don't care about legality. I like to have all my decks at least modern legal. Not sure what to take out to put in a cruciable of fire though. Tough decision.

Making the game a little fast, I would probably drop a Utvara Hellkite. Eight mana can be a little hard to pull off even with red mana fixing. Also Furyborn Hellkite, unless you wanted to run four Lightning Bolts (for early drop creatures) or Mana Jets (for scry ability and card draw advantage plus damage) these two would help feed into the Bloodthirst as well as nice early removal or direct damage as needed. With these two mentioned you should have a spot opened up for a Cruciable of Fire or two. Also a nice addition you could keep in mind would be a Braid of Fire, now being beginning of the upkeep you couldn't use it for casting creatures but, you can use the mana for any instants or what I used it for firebreathing effects with dragons already in play.

Don't get me wrong, I love this deck. But to me, no dragon deck is complete without an Utvara Hellkite and/ or Braid of Fire. They let you play dragons like nobody's business.

Ok gents. I would like to recommend two of my personal dragon decks for you. Both have had a retarded amount of success and are incredibly fast. With the Adult Dragon deck, I have had 30 or so dragons out by Turn 6 (although I can't remember how I pulled it off haha) and with the baby dragons, well, they just poop out baby dragons =D Seriously though, great dragon decks and I hope these can help you improve your own dragons!

Side note: In the Adult Dragon deck, take out scourge of the throne and the deck becomes modern.

Dragon Broodmother, especially with Scourge of Valkas, is a pretty hilarious card.
