Deck Description

"If it comes for you, die boldly or die swiftly—for die you will"
-Balefire Dragon
Hello, I have always wanted to build a dragon deck, and here it is! This worked out much better and much cheaper than I originally thought. Anyway, here is an awesome dragon deck!

How to Play

This deck has a very good, unconventional way of ramping up mana. This deck does it by untaping lands that are enchanted. For a dragon deck, this is about as good, and as fast as you can get. With the maximum kill of turn 4 (50%) and turn 5 (25%) this deck will work wonders against most decks. This is not what one would expect in a dragon deck, but after weeks of testing, and over 100 games with it, I think I have found one of the best possible dragon deck combos.
By the way, I have been able to generate over 20 mana turn 4, which is what allows this to work.

Deck discussion for Dragon Overload

if you add furnace whelp, dragon hatchling or both than it would be a good move for early game dragons

Thank you for pointing this out to me. I have been doing some testing with this deck, and early game is never a problem, given this type of ramp engine. I had a game that was 20 mana a turn by turn 4. Still, any ideas are welcome, and I will agree with you that this deck needs some tweaking.

but this is with no extra spells that ramp your mana count.

also i would:
-1 gurruk
-3 magus

you already have enough mana circulating.

its not bad, there r some things i will suggest to make it better...

-4 early harvest
+4 harow. just easier to ramp out the land vs untap them if u ask me.
- 3 staffs
+ 3 more land.

those r some minor changes i would suggest. drawing several sample hands, u dont always get the land u need. keep in mind using a dragon deck like this u have green for mana ramp. and almost any other dragon deck is slow out the gate. u need more ways to make it last longer. i have built probably 50 or more different dragon based decks and would get demolished before i could get outta the gate. after all this time, i have several that will win most duels i am in. if u want more help ill be glade to help.

it depends how u do it. what u take out will affect how it runs. i actually have a mono red dragon deck that abuses the not typical dragons. the surprise comes when i drop crucible of fire down. the way i keep alive is by using earthquake. clears just about everything else but my dragons.

Thank you so much for giving me some tips. This is the first dragon deck I have ever made, and I know it is really hard to make them work, but when they do, they are very good. I would love some more tips if you can give them, I took some of what you said, and some just earned experience with this deck, and I have removed and added some cards according to what went wrong. The only thing I see with earthquake is that it hurts you as well, so wouldn't that be an issue? I will appreciate any help you could give

not a prob. yah it does hurt you as well but u should be able to do kill damage after words.

well to keep from making the deck alot like another, u could just use a few copies of fog to stall long enough. im sort of my area's dragon freak so i have alot of experience building dragon decks lol XD

here is the link to my Sun's Dragons deck. i have 85% of it in real life, and it still does some good fights.

@Demonking: Have you seen one of these ramp enginges before? I sure haven't, until about 4 days ago when I was playing with a friend. This guy was somehow able to generate Infinite mana turn 3, 99% of the time. It was not fragile at all. I have come kind of close to what he did, not perfect, but close enough. I can have anything out in this deck turn 4, and if it is the right card, win turn 5. The tricky part about playing the deck, is constructing the mana engine in game. It is not very fragile, but needs to be done carefully, with planning.
I really appreciate your help, and I have taken some of what you have said into account, but just fwi, despite what you might think, this deck has few holes in it until turn 4, I am a ramp person, you can see my landslide deck on the main page and check it out if you want. That defines true ramp, with a maximum of 16 turn 2 or 3, and over 20 turn 4. However for this deck I decided to try a different engine, anyway, I am going to stop rambalin' and just tell me what you think. I relly appreciat the help. Oh I did view your deck, and I see what you did. I see what you mean by earthquake, so that may be a potential card, but with Balefire dragon.... it is hard to decide.

You will get there. I am surprised I am there myself. I never thought myself a very good deck builder until 3 of my decks just exploded.

Ya, I have considered them, and they were in the deck to begin with, and you are right, they would be very useful against some decks! Thanks for pointing out this thought!
