Deck Description

My inspiration came from cracking a fat pack and pulling Sarkhan and Dragonlord Ojutai. Then I realized how much fun it would be to play a dragon based deck, because, let's face it, dragons are awesome! Because dragons are (mostly) aggressive, and the cultural connection with dragons and fire, I decided to go mostly red.

How to Play

The basic idea is to stall, have some small creatures for defending, dealing small damage, some small removal until around turn 6, then start playing dragons like there is no tomorrow.

Other than the dragons there are two cards that are key in helping this.
1. [Dragonlord's Servant- "Dragon spells cost one less" a red 1/3 for 2], this helps me play dragons earlier.
2. [Sarkhan's Triumph- "Search library for dragon, show it, then put it in your hand. Shuffle" a red instant for 3]

Deck discussion for Here There Be Dragons

I need some help with balance. Balance with the mana base, and balance with the mana curve.

At FNM last night I just found myself consistently mana screwed, or drawing cards that I couldn't' play for 2-3+ turns. I did quite a bit of tweaking and this is what I have so far.

Is there any suggestions for lower cost cards, better ways to balance the mana base, or better spells (perhaps some cheap counters)? Thanks!

my suggestion would be to drop some colors... but that just me... 5 color decks are hard to make work if you don't literally base it around five colors. for example the card "fist of suns" and or any of the "bringers". "Channel the suns" is another example of a card that's geared at 5 colors.

In this deck you have 2 different tribes of dragon. R/B and W/B. You should try to pick one and stick with it. From there if you want to splash green for surrak then that's fine. I however would take sarkhan our completely... That's just my opinion.

If you want to make something work with sarkhan you might think about going with the atarka tribe dragons and splash blue to keep your colors consistent.

Hope this helps! =)
