I saw someone play a deck with an idea like this and I liked it so much that I decided to make a deck for it. The idea is that the closer you come to death, the easier you can kill you opponents. Phyrexian Unlife and Platinum Angel are the main cards that keep you alive below 0 life. Death's Shadow actually gets bigger than a 13/13 if you have less than 0 life (I didn't believe it at first either!). Soul Conduit can kill an opponent if you have 0 or less life. The damaging dual lands give you the mana type that you need fast while lowering your life to help out with other cards. If you have Phyrexian Unlife and Dark Tutelage out, you get a free card draw with no harm to you (Lose of life is not the same as damage). Immolating Souleater can lower your life and attack too. All of the spells are there to facilitate Death's Shadow, Platinum Angel, or Immolating Souleater.
