Deck Description

The deck wants to make pressure early and run over the opponent with big creatures with trample.

It features some of the most aggressive one drops (Gravecrawler and Diregraf Ghoul) and some other very aggressive guys with haste (Strangleroot Geist and Dreg Mangler).

Lotleth Troll, Varolz and the Corpsejack Menace are supporters and enabler. Lotleth is a good counter receiver because he got trample and regenerate. Varolz also got trample and lets me scavenge already dead Diregraf Ghouls and stuff. Corpsejack is with 4/4 already a nice hitter but also supports the scavenging much.

Ground Seal will mostly work good against Snapcasters, but also against Reanimator (which isn't part of my meta in general). Against Aggro I take use out of Knight of Infamy (only Boros). The Pack Rat is against Control decks.

I would like to receive some comments about the deck.

Thanks in advance.

Deck discussion for Golgari Aggro

Hi!
I´m planning a deck very simmiliar to yours, so, if it´s ok for you, I want to discuss about some of the choices:
1. Corpsejack Menace - Its hability is awsome, no doubt about it, but I´m thinking about the real value of that choice, for the late game. Did you tested it? What about replace it for a Desecration Deamon? We can discard it for Lotleth and scavenge with Varolz for 6/ 6 or we can use it as a powerfull creature, helping to remove things or attacking with evasion, we can block the big guys...what do you think?

2. Diregraf Ghoul - Damn, I'm really confused about this slot here, between him and Slitherhead...Ghoul is a great choice to scavenge with Varolz, but if varolz is not on table, maybe it will be better if we can chump block things with the slitherhead and them scavenge him for our guys...

3. Strangleroot Geist - Here it's a matter of which kind of deck we want to build. I'm planning to use a deck more black than yours, as I want to use Blood Scrivener, to help me draw cards after discard everything for Lotleth and to help on late game. He's a zombie, and can help me with gravecrawler. Maybe I'll use cremate, so I can double buy cards when using it. But no doubt that, if you want to go that way, Geist is a great choice to block (you can kill burning tree and flinthoof boar!), to attack with haste and for scavenge it's the same as Scrivener.

After the creatures, I want to talk about the removals, but we can talk about that later

1. I think the Corpsejack always works good, no matter what. The Desecration Demon is almost useless in a token deck for example. Otherwise it is very nice of course. Other than that I can't tell why I prefer it, maybe it's just about the flavour.
2. I think this is a very aggressive deck, so blocking isn't necessary. Besides that, it's still possible with the Ghoul, of course you got to wait a turn. It's still got a possibility to scavenge it with the help of Varolz.
3. Drawing cards is always nice, but I want to be explosive and aggressive.

Don't get me wrong your options could and probably will work too, but I like my choices better.

For the removals:
1. Tragic Slip:
My deck is aggressive, I don't really care about losing a creature, so pretty many creatures will die, what makes Tragic Slip a effective and cheap removal for every creature.
2. Abrupt Decay:
Great against many cards, but especially against control decks. Still pretty cheap.
3. Putrefy:
The meanest but also most expensive removal in the row. It destroys almost everything.

Because I want to stay cheap I play 3-3-2, with the option to board 2 Putrefys in. I got to test it how it works, but I think with 8 removals it shouldn't be big of a problem.

Thank you for your comment, I preciate it. Let them come.

Hi!

I´m here to get new ideas, so don´t worry. For me, it´s clear that there are two versions of this deck, and I´ll test both.

About the removals:

I´m tending to use the same as you, maybe I´ll use 3 putrefys and 2 tragic, I don't know. Just as a test, I'll try some drawned in filth, planning to have some early creatures removed as I fill my graveyard to scavenge with Varolz. Besides, 8 removals seems ok to me, as the jund aggro uses 8 as well.

About the sideboard, my ideas:

Pithing Needle - Against Tormod's Crypt, Gravedigger's Cage.
Cremate - Against Reanimator. I want to buy cards if I'm using Blood Scrivener. Ground Seal with Geist seens better.
Deadbridge Chant - Against control decks
Duress/Appetite for Brains - We can remove haters, wraths, big guys, some combo pieces...

Hope it helps!

Grafdigger's Cage isn't problem, because you can still scavenge. Tormod's Crypt could be a problem, but it's not such a big one, I think. Scavenging is just a additional option (to me at least), so I can win without it too. It's not bad to play Pithing Needle, but I'm not sure if it's really that useful.

Cremate is not bad either. Not sure on it thought. Against Reanimator it's probably better, because you can play it always and just before he put something in his graveyard. I don't have Reanimator in my meta, so I won't need it, I think.

Deadbridge Chant against control decks isn't a bad idea. Never thought about that. Maybe take that into consideration. Thanks for that!

Duress and Appetite for Brains are options too. Maybe in a 2/2 split, what do you think? I could cut a Pack Rat, a Knight and a Charm at least. Maybe even the additional two Putrefys.

I also took Deadbridge Goliath into cosideration. It's more of a mid-game card, but it's pretty useful, especially with Varolz.

Thanks, that definately helped!
