Deck Description

This is my second attempt at a Tatyova EDH deck. I realized that the power of this deck lies much more in the ability to do stupid stuff with lands rather than just getting a bunch of landfall triggers. With that being said I got rid of most of the mediocre landfall creatures and graveyard stuff in favor of that sweet land manipulation. Since I'm poor it's missing a lot of power cards, but feel free to slot in Exploration, Azusa Lost but Seeking, Avenger of Zendikar, and Oracle of Mul Daya to power it up if you have them. But don't worry, the deck still works fine with cheaper stuff.

How to Play

This deck combines Tatyova's seemingly benign ability to draw a card whenever a land enters the battlefield with blue cards that return lands in play to your hand such as Gush and the Moonfolk, with green cards that rapidly play lands out of your hand (untapped) to create an engine that quickly spirals out of control for your opponents.

The geral gameplan of the deck is to ramp out Tatyova as soon as possible and take advantage of her ability to draw through your deck for combo pieces and spells to protect her while you get your engines up and running.

Speaking of engines, this deck has 3 all star cards that quickly swing things in your favor when they hit the table. They are:

Retreat to Coralhelm. This card doesn't seem like much at first, but keep in mind we are running four creatures that can tap to put a land from our hand into play, resulting in us being able to play every land in our hand at instant (or sorcery in the case of Skyshroud Ranger) speed. This is obviously very good, but it get ridiculous when you combine it with...

Uyo, Silent Prophet. While all of the Moonfolk in the deck are very good, Uyo is by far the best. She is very good with all of your instants and sorceries (she can also copy your opponent's), but is especially good with summer bloom (this lets you replay all but two lands you have in play), removal spells, and rescind. "Why Rescind?" you ask. Because if you manage to play Uyo with the Retreat toCoralhelm engine online, in addition to getting infinite landfall triggers (you can also get infinite triggers with Meloku), you can lock every other player out of the game by returning all permanents they have in play to their hands (including lands).

Finally, we have Manabond. While it's not quite as powerful as the Retreat to Coralhelm engine, it has the advantage of not requiring multiple cards. For the small price of all of the nonland cards in your hand you can play all of the remaining lands AFTER the discard happens Tatyova and all other landfall abilities will trigger. "Is that really that good?" you ask. In a normal deck the answer would be no, but this is not a normal ramp deck. It is not unusual to be able to return 4 or more lands to your hand before your end step, meaning you will usually be putting 5+ untapped lands into play and drawing 5 cards at the END OF EVERY TURN.

Any of the landfall creatures in the deck can win you the game once you get an engine up and running, and all of them (other than hedron crab) are just generally good on their own.

The deck obviously runs a lot of ramp to get our land shenanigans up and running, though unlike most ramp decks we don't really have anything we are ramping up to. The deck relies a lot more on weird card combinations than individual big threats.

We also run a lot of counterspells and removal to keep our somewhat wimpy creatures safe while we are building up our board. Lucky for us the the alternate/additional cost on Daze, Deprive, and Thwart fits perfectly with what our deck wants to do and let us counter things while we're low on mana/tapped out.

The deck also has all of the pseudo enchantment-tutoring/recovery that we have at our disposal in the form of Commune with the Gods, Benediction of Rhonas, and the very strange Rofellos's Gift. While we don't run that many enchantments, the ones we do run are INSANE in this deck. In addition to the aforementioned Retreat to Coralhelm and Manabond, we are also running the criminally unfair Burgeoning and Mana Breach, both of which are very good alone and even better when combined.

Finally we are running one Sylvan Awakening as an alternate win condition in case we can't get an engine going and just have a lot of lands laying around. I like this card a lot more than most man-landers since it also makes your land creatures indestructible, meaning there is less of a risk of just getting completely wrecked by a board wipe.
