Deck Description

Who doesn't love a cheap, modern legal, infinite combo deck that can win in 4 turns!?

Use the lands in the sideboard if you don't mind spending the extra money.

Version 2: http://www.mtgvault.com/vr/decks/20-infinite-combo-4tw-v2-2/
Standard Version: http://www.mtgvault.com/vr/decks/standard-13-infcombo-4tw/

How to Play

The infinite combo revolves around 3 cards: Orochi Leafcaller, Fyndhorn Elder, and Freed from the Real. What you do is enchant Fyndhorn Elder with Freed from the Real, tap Fyndhorn Elder for 2 Forests, use Orochi Leafcallers active to create 1 Island and 1 mana of any color. With the 1 Island untap Fyndhorn Elder and repeat for infinite mana. Use this infinite mana on Blaze or Devil's Play.

4-Turn-Win
Turn 1: Forest + Orochi Leafcaller
Turn 2: Simic Guildgate -OR- Forest + Gatecreeper Vine
Turn 3: Forest + Fyndhorn Elder
Turn 4: Freed from the Real + infinite mana combo + Blaze/Devil's Play

If you're having trouble finding Fyndhorn Elder or Freed from the Real you can use Drift of Phantasms' transmute to retrieve it from your deck.

You can also used Freed from the Real on Axebane Guardian with an additional defender on the battlefield for a second infinite mana combo.

Use your defenders, Fog, Cancel, and Essence Scatter to defend yourself while waiting for the combo.

Glad you like it. I don't have the cards for this deck and haven't been able to try it so you might want to test it first :).

Good luck!

Orochi's active costs one Forest and doesn't cause him to tap.

That'd be it. Knew I was being stupid.

Most cards that give mana have to tap so I can understand why you missed it.

I do like those lands but I didn't add them in because they cost so much and I wanted to keep it cheap. The Gyre Sage is alright but the highest mana cost in this deck is only 3 and 20 land cards + Fyndhorn Elder is plenty.
Also Gatecreeper Vine allows you to search your deck for a land if you're missing one for your turn 3.

I do appreciate the advice though and if you can afford those lands you should use them.

I added the Guildgates to the main deck and put the shock lands in the sideboard for people willing to spend the money.

I know you're trying to keep this cheap but something like green sun's zenith would help grab a orochi or fyndhorn when you need to fix up the combo - only suggestion I can come up with.

That's a really good suggestion. I'll put cards that cost a lot of money into the sideboard for people willing to spend money. I was having trouble finding a card to search for Orochi.

You sir need to switch up Devil's Play and Blaze with Banefire and Demonfire, it looks as though you should have an empty hand, making Demonfire uncounterable and Banefire should be uncounterable too.

Also instead of Cancel, Remand is cheaper on the mana, Mana Leak and Spell Pierce are also possibilities just to stop your combo pieces from being countered

I wanted this deck to be cheap so I'm not going to put in Remand or Banefire. I did add in Demonfire and I'll look for a spot for the other Mana Leak and Spell Pierce. Thanks for the advice.

Enter the Infinite is a fun card but I already have 8 X damage burn cards in the deck. I feel like that's enough, if not too much already.

This deck is just for fun and I wanted to do something with the infinite mana combo. I don't think it's really viable for a ptq as you now realize :P

I think is a really great start, great for FNM and if it can be made consistent, it can be a perfect deck to finish with a positive record at PTQ, but it can't get better unless people don't knock it and actually contribute ideas for good cards :)

Does Overgrown Battlement do anything besides adding one green mana to your mana pool? He seems slightly out of place. If you replaced him with Joraga Treespeaker then you could help your mana curve a little, while also adding an alternative to Fyndhorn Elder.

The Axebane Guardian combo requires 5 cards (Axebane, 3 defenders, and Galvanic Alchemist), this only requires 3. I'm not trying to capitalize on defenders, I'm just using them to stall for my combo.

If you want a Standard Axebane Guardian combo deck you can look at my profile, they're entirely different.

Using the existing cards in this deck, the combo needed to activate infinite mana using Axebane Guardian is three cards. Freed From the Real, Axebane Guardian and another defender of any choice.

I may have jumped to conclusions about why you are using Overgrown Battlement. I might have a better idea as to what your reasoning is if you told me.

Ok, now I see the 3 card combo with Axebane. I'm used to only using Axebane in standard decks which is why I thought it was a 5 card combo. I was only using Overgrown Battlement for defender to stall and for mana. I'll replace it with Axebane now that I see the combo.

Thanks, sorry I didn't understand at first.

That replacement pretty much doubles your chances of getting an infinite mana combo.

Doubling the chances of a mana combo is why i suggested Joraga Treespeaker, but Axebane Guardian is of a higher toughness, so he's probably the better choice.

i think you might want to drop a Drift for another Gatecreeper, the 4th Gatecreeper adds another filter to the deck and lowers your mana curve if you want to be more likely to trigger axebane

Drift is important in this deck because you can use it's transmute ability to search your library for Axebane, Freed from the Real, and Fyndhorn Elder.
