Played with a deck similar to this drop the curse of pierced heart and add something else, it doesn't do enough damage to be worth the 2 drop, shock would be better than it.

If he's going for Standard Shock won't work. I have a similiar deck I'm working on add Curse of Blood Letting and anything you do damage with doubles it so that Pierced Heart would prove more effective. Here's mine http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=399505
