Deck Description

This is sooo fun, i really edited this as I used it, I love Ugin. As many do and I see why! Please tell me if you think that you can help me better this deck.

How to Play

I love control and I edited this deck, i took out all of the sunblasts and sleeps to add more detain. i like this mechanic more and to have 4 of her and 4 sleep in one deck i think is unnecessary.

In a control deck that wants to make the game go long, oppressive rays is kind of bad. After all, the longer the game goes on, the more mana your opponent has. I'd replace all of them with four pacifism.

You can only run four of each card, it looks like you've got eight Paths here. I must not have noticed that, sorry. Pacifism it is, I guess.

No problem. Now you've got 58 cards in the main and 16 in the SB. You're only aloud to run 15 cards in the SB. I would move two banisher priests to the main and run a Path to Exile in the SB.

Yeah, but the more cards your decks have, the more inconsistent they will be. You'll be less likely to draw the cards you need.

Love Azorius and their detainment shenanigans :) only thing I would alter is stick a few guild gates (or shock/scry lands if your feeling rich) your one and two drops are useless without targets so you can lose the time that they come in tapped. I want to say Angelic edicts is painfully expensive but buggered if I can suggest much... I like judges familiars 1 drop flyer and in early game agro players have to keep a close eye on them...

* 15 lands is WAY too low, especially considering 4 of them come into play tapped and considering you are playing to bounce your own stuff which you then have to replay! And Ugin ... statistically speaking Ugin will hit play turn 25 ... maybe 20 if you drew some extra cards. You'll be dead long before that.
Midrange decks like this need something between 20 and 24 lands, but since you play control (which needs to keep mana open) and bounce your own stuff (which you have to replay) you should run something between 24 and 26 mana sources of which no more than 6 should enter play tapped.

* Azorious AEthermage is probably the weakest link in this. It is only 1/1 and requires you to have two more cards (bouncer plus another bounceworthy target). Basically this is only good when you are already in a situation that looks well. But you don't need cards that make you "win more", you need cards that help you winning at all. Since this is control, that means cards that help you staying alive. Looking at your creature selection I'd say the best replacement for the AEthermage would be Wall of Denial. You can't detain everything, something WILL slip through and this wall is a very potent blocker that is hard to kill. But since you need room to add at least 7 lands you might as well cutting AEthermage without replacing it.

* Dramatic Rescue is a very bad card because it is so narrow. 2 life isn't worth the effort considering all those good alternatives. My recommodation would be to replace it with Into the Roil. No lifegain, but it costs no white mana, can bounce artifacts, enchantments or planeswalkers and has the option to draw an extra card. Read: Vastly superior. The potential extra card is especially handy since we lost card drawing power when we cut the AEthermage.

* For similar reasons I would replace Arrest with Faith's Fetters. It may cost one mana more but is much more versatile because it can enchant any permanent (and stop it's activated abilities, for example it would completely shut down planeswalkers) and you also gain some life which is nice again because we just lost life gain when we replaced Dramatic Rescue.

* Banisher Priest has bad synergy with your bouncing theme because it releases it's target when it leaves play.

* Judge's Familiar is a good card, however, it serves best in aggro decks.I do not think it is much of use in this. I guess you have it to smooth out the mana curve so you have something to do on turn one, however, you would be better off having some library manipulation in this slot, for example Preordain. But if you don't want to go down with the creature count I recommend Trusted Advisor - it's free bounce for your Deputies and Spirits.

thx for the tips, if i may id like to ask you some questions;

first being i want to add some counter spells, but i don't know what to add, i have some options in my side board. i like rewind but the 2 U is hard sometimes... which is why i also have hindering light. this is a card that is much like negate but some what limiting. however it is made up for in the card draw. i'm also considering adding dispel or a classic cancel. counterspell is also floating around in my head. but the 2 U is sketchy for this deck. again, hindring light shines in that aspect. but even if i can choose a counterspell i wont know what to replace. maybe bring my count of souls and advisors. I greatly appreciate the help you have lending me and hope that i'm not bugging you. I hope to hear from you soon. again thx.
