The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

All of my deck building has been done in either Standard or EDH since I'm fairly new to Magic in comparison to most. That being said, I stumbled across Gilt-Leaf Archdruid and though it was an awesome card that I wanted to build around, so I gave Modern a whirl.

Planning on proxying this and testing it against a friend who's been playing much longer than I have, but this is by no means meant to compete with top tier Modern decks. The biggest thing for me is having a deck that's fun to play, win or lose.

Gilt-Leaf is the star here, and can lead to some pretty awesome combos when you can ramp into it by turn 3.

Suggestions are appreciated since this is my first Modern brew, but be sure to keep all feedback polite. This place is a community, and we should treat our neighbors with respect.

Thanks for looking!

How to Play

Use your ramp to get into Gilt-Leaf as quickly as possible and let the fun begin.

Multiple win-cons that I think most of you can decipher for yourselves.

Deck discussion for Modern Elves.

I've been running Elves in Modern for years. Take a look at my elf decks, you may get a few ideas. I keep forgetting to post my latest versions, but what is posted should help some.

The one card that I've seen that I might have to throw in is Joraga Warcaller, but probably only as a two of. I want to keep this as Druid-themed as possible since it allows me crazy card draw with Gilt-Leaf.

Emerald Medallion isn't Modern legal. Reclamation Sage is a shaman, not a druid, and he wants as many druids as possible for Gilt-leaf Archdruid

Personally, I don't really see the point of Craterhoof Behemoth. Ezuri fills the role just as well, possibly better and he can protect all the other elves from a board wipe. I've found that, more often than not, by the time I've had a good board presence to use Craterhoof Behemoth's ETB effect to kill, I've had enough mana to do the same, if not better, with Ezuri's 'overrun' ability. That said, with Ezuri being a legendary creature, I never run more than 3 in my decks.

Devoted Druid is a nice creature, but I've come to like Heritage Druid more because it allows me to tap all those summoning sickness creatures for mana, especially the tokens. Not to mention, you could just use both.

The way I see it right now, with the four Overrun, four Triumph, two Craterhoofs, and two Ezuris, I have 12 board pumping spells for myself. And as far as ramp, I still feel like I have plenty. I playtested this list today and was able to get a Craterhoof off for lethal on turn 5 in one game, and another game I was able to win on turn 4 with Triumph. I feel like the speed is there. But I do need to put together a sideboard, so all of the cards we're throwing around could go there very easily.

And that was without running the Elvish Promenade. I dropped them for two more lands, which I could just as easily exchange for two Heritage Druid.
