Deck Description

BUG dredgevine, losing red means no faithless looting, not a big deal as Hedron crab allows for a lot of milling and Drown in filth also acts as self mill and removal.

I have removed the dredgers normally found in Dredgevine (stinkweed imp and golgari thug) to allow for some more useful cards to come in. Varolz allows for value from the Death's Shadow and Jarad allows me to fling my creatures for some reach.

Obviously I would like Verdant Catacombs in place of the Deltas but I already have a playset of Deltas so that will be an improvement in due time.

How to Play

Play your creatures fast, fill the graveyard and utilise the resource for Vengevine. Can have some serious blowouts, If Varolz is on the field, cast a couple of Death's Shadows, your life total means they immediateley die (hopefully) and then you scavenge them onto any vengevines that have recurred from the grave. Should mean you are swinging for lethal.

Sideboard is built to deal with hate, the shocklands in the main allow for either grudge or ray to be hardcast.

Deck discussion for BUG Dredgevine

Interesting take on DredgeVine with Varolz and Death's Shadow. That's probably pretty wicked when you get it going. How has Drown in Filth been for you? I tried running those for a while but ended up switching to Abrupt Decay instead. Not really a huge fan of Birds in this deck as there's really nothing to ramp into. They're a 1 mana creature for Vine and that's about it. Another thing i noticed is you have no way to start your Gravecrawler chain. Take a look at Fatestitcher. he's great because you can unearth him to start playing Gravecrawlers. he can tap down blockers which can be huge too.

Here's the DredgeVine list I've been running

Thanks for the input, the birds were just leftovers from previous iterations but thanks for the Fatestitcher pointer! that change is definatley happeing, I am liking Drown in Filth as it chucks more cards in the yard than darkblast and does more damage as well, darkblast is in the side for Delver matchups and the likes.

I know this deck will never be tier 1 but it is fairly a cheap entry into modern until I can get my tezzeret UB build together :)

Yeah it may not be Teir 1 but you can still get crazy blowouts with this deck. I've had turn 2, 3-4 Vengevines with a bunch of other creatures happens a few times. Of course i've had other game where i mill 50 cards and don't see a single Vine... -_-' Super fun deck though!
