Deck Description

Mono black zombie deck which revolves around mortar pod, gravecrawler, Geralf's messenger, and blood artist

You can sac gravecrawler / geralf's messenger consistently with the mortar pod to pick off pesky creatures, or just keep throwing damage at your opponent. Blood artist makes everything that dies do 1 more damage while you're gaining 1 life. I came back from a game when I was at 4 life to 18 and ended up winning. Good good card.

I use metamorph to copy swords / Geralf's / Obliterator. Just a good card. Comes in handy to clone Geist of Saint Traft. I use that fairly often.

Fum Spitter is just good for taking out snap casters and other 1/1's or 2/1's. He can also get rid of the +1/1 counter on Geralf's allowing Geralf's to come back a third time!

Spellbomb is nice for zombie / delver match ups. Never hurts to have at least one in there.

Perilous Myr I chose over Highborn ghoul because I can choose 2 damage to anything and its also an artifact.

Lashwrithe is just a beast. if it comes out, I win the game easy. It enters as a 4/4. Block some annoying crap with it than equip and swing. 4/3 Geralf's with 4/4 = 8/7 on turn 4 possible. That's going to be annoying for someone to deal with.

Obliterator will get countered or exiled quickly. I would suggest using Distress before casting him, so you know what your opponent is going to do.

Geth's / Distress / Tragic Slip are just good control spells. Geth's lets you take out hexproof or protection from black creatures easily. Distress prevents them from hitting the board, as long as you remember what the opponent played, and its mana cost. Tragic slip is just an instant kill. set it up with a mortar pod saccing / equipping lashwirthe / or fume spitter and instant -13/13.

I took 2nd with this Deck last FNM and I am planning to take 1st tonight. Solid deck / consistent.

Comments, suggestions, critiques welcome!! I eventually plan on switching this to R/B for an even faster deck. Seems that at my local card shop the majority is GW Humans / Delver / some goofy ass U/R burn

-------

Didn't do to hot at FNM...

Stomped some mono black goofy shit and than GW humans.

Next matchup was U/R control. Was dominating until Tamiyo came out. It tapped my Phyrexian Obilterator and ended up going 2-1 them.

Round 4 was U/W control. I got mana screwed both games (3 swamps) couldnt use obliterators. The girl powered up her planeswalker and started to exile all my swamps. LIfe was 20 me her 2. I scooped my cards after a few she got all my swamps.

Final match was 4 color reanimator. Close game, 2 -2 life he just got lucky w his huntsmaster transforming. Second game I went to town with Obliterator equipped with Lashwrithe 10/10 trample.
Final game of the night came down to one of those stalemates. He played zealous conscripts ftw.

Swapping

-2 Perlious Myr
+2 Highborn Ghoul

I also May swap Distress out for Surgical Extraction / Ratchet Bomb / More Highborn Ghouls or Obliterators. Any suggestions? My local shop is heavy into aggro or control.

Deck discussion for Zombie Sac

Very cool! Looks like a lot of fun.

Do you have the Metamorphs in there for the Obliterator or if your opponent plays a titan or something?

Thanks!

Kinda both. I chose metamorph over image because I can copy artifacts too. Usually I'll hold off before I use it on my own creatures to see what my opponent is doing / what type of deck he is running. Copying a Geralf's is good too cuz than it comes back with a +1/1 counter on it.

ex. one game it was GW/ Humans and I copied a blood artist right away. He whipped out a Mirran Crusader and just went to town on me :(

I see. That sucks!

What do you use the Nihil Spellbomb for? Draw and/or against flashback decks?

It's a handy draw card as well as good for graveyard exile. Good for zombie match ups, undying (they hit the graveyard before they come back), but mainly for delver and flashback. Last FNM I got hit by 4 bonfire of the damned in a single game. Not gonna happen again! And snapcaster w vapor snag is annoying as all hell!

Yeah it is. I've played against that crap and I hate it.

I ask about it because the only thing I could think of would be moving that one Spellbomb to your sideboard in favor of that other Perilous Myr. That way you can focus more on killing then if you're playing a dumb delver deck, you can switch them out.

Other than that, I can't really think of anything else.
