Deck Description

This is a midrange deck designed to prey on other midrange decks like abzan, jeskai, mardu-green, and combo decks like 4-c rally. The deck plays out on the more controlling end of midrange and has real game against aggro thanks to cards like Kalitas, Ayli, Oath of Gideon, and Kozilek's return. Control has been an interesting match up, but it feels not bad mainly due to the high volume of creature-lands (which have all felt great!). The worst match-up by far is ramp, but sideboarding in a high volume of hand disruption and utilizing exile effects goes a long way. Over all, it is a very resilient deck, has few mana issues, and is a blast to play.

How to Play

You want to start by playing tap lands for the first few turns. Most decks in standard these days don't get off to a quick start, so there isn't really a cost to taking your time. Try and one for one your opponent until you can resolve a planeswalker, and then try to close out the game quickly. Most players will forget about your creature-lands (especially needle spires) and as a result they do a fine job of providing reach.

Sideboarding is pretty simple. Its just small adjustments to taste.
