Deck discussion for Planeswalker Creatureless

volcanic fallout will hurt planeswalkers

Are you certain? Volcanic Fallout states: "Volcanic Fallout deals 2 damage to each creature and each player." I don't think Planeswalkers are considered "creatures".

i agree with erjohn12.
I like the idea of making a Planeswalker deck, but you have no defenses at all except your little spells. and once you do get your Planeswalkers out, theyre in even more danger than you are. The least I would do is add some walls, just for protection, Especially Wall of Denial and Wall of Shadows. Denial is a 0/8 flier with Shroud and Shadows doesnt take combat damage.

This deck works very very very well, If i was gonna add walls i would add Plumeveil or Wall of Reverence. Volcanic blowout works well cuz i would rather have my planeswalkers take 2 damage rather then have them get mauled by a army of 2/2 kithkins

okay, so fallout will only hurt planeswalkers if you resolve the damage to them. In a 1v1 there are 2 players, and thats it. There is no way, as far as im aware, to do damage to multimple planewalkers with 1 spell. erjohn is wrong.
Okay, so this deck might be okay, but you can't control someone with only spells as well as you would think. Aggro will rape you. Esp bant as its creatures will stand up to fallout. You also don't really have much of a win condition. garruk and ajani take a long time to do lethal damage, and I doubt you can control someone for that long. Maelstrom pulse will also rape you. Similarly with celestial purge.

u should add some spells to keep your opponent at bay but for garruck to work u need more mana production i see you going a couple turns with nothing happening on your part and your opponent just hitting over and over again. and like others said a fast paced aggro deck like goblins or elves even slivers would be able to come right through and kill the plainswalkers before you get to do anything and the volcanic fallout does two damage to al creatures and players you plainswalker is considered another player but a direct help to only you at your command so yes they will all take the damage i believe but i have seen many plainswalker decks work but they normaly have something to defend them at a very low cost

4x Broken Ambitions
4x Cryptic Command
2x Terror
3x Volcanic Fallout
4x Wrath of God

Not to many people hitting you if you play smart.

I'm a type 2 player I KNOW THIS DECK WORKS.

Volcanic fallout won't hurt you as much as people think.

I have a question, do you plan on winning by decking the other opponent out?

Volcanic Fallout won't hurt your planeswalkers at all, but it will still hit you (player) for 2 damage. Also, if your opponent controls multiple planeswalkers, you can only hit either A) that player or B) ONE of his planeswalkers with the 2 damage.

212.9g If noncombat damage would be dealt to a player by a source controlled by an opponent, that opponent may have that source deal that damage to a planeswalker the first player controls instead. This is a redirection effect (see rule 419.6c) and is subject to the normal rules for ordering replacement effects (see rule 419.9). The opponent chooses whether to redirect the damage as the redirection effect is applied.

The important thing here is "a source controlled by an opponent". You can't redirect damage from yourself to your own planeswalker (e.g. Lightning Bolt, Consume Spirit, etc.)

It amazes me how many people on this site don't actually look up rules before arguing with someone about how their deck doesn't work. Obviously you're on the internet, because MTGVault is a website, so it's extremely easy to do a web search and find the answer to a rules question. Or, just look at the damn rules.

I drove one guy's Illusion deck up onto front page because he refused to understand the concept of how Illusion's are still sacrificed even if you prevent/counter/whatever the thing that was targeting it (e.g. someone Doom Blades your Phantasmal Bear, you Negate the Doom Blade, the Bear STILL dies). Just the other day someone commented on one of my artifact decks that War Report's health gain does not count doubly for artifact creatures. PLEASE JUST USE THE INTERNET!

Anyways, this is a pretty cool deck. I would highly recommend sideboarding your Terrors though, in favor of Go for the Throats. Unless everyone you know runs regenerating creatures... This would open up your options to be able to handle other black decks. Definitely leave the Terrors in your sideboard though, I know how annoying Cudgel Trolls can be!
