Deck Description

I would like to first say that I play magic casually, though I do know a lot about the Modern/Legacy decks. I like to find a card and make a deck around it, or make a deck around a common theme, usually on a decently low budget. This time I made a deck around the card Barren Glory! The main idea is to play Academy Rector, then sacrifice everything (hopefully making the opponent sacrifice everything as well) and then winning on the following turn when Barren Glory comes into play. Worst comes to worst, control the opponent with Oblivion Rings and Balances until you can hard cast Barren Glory.

How to Play

Again, the win condition is Barren Glory! In order to get it you, I like to play an Academy Rector and then use one of the cards that destroys all your permanents (Devastating Dreams, Renounce, or Greater Gargadon). To get rid of your hand, you use either Ignorant Bliss or Tireless Tribe.

Balance is a card to control the board until you can board wipe. Ways to clear the board are generally using Renounce on the upkeep with Tireless Tribe or Ignorant Bliss discarding your hand. A good thing to do is play Balance, then in response play Renounce, saccing all your permanents, discarding all cards to Tireless Tribe, and get Barren Glory off the sacrificed Academy Rector. This way the opponent has no lands and you win next upkeep!

In the sideboard, there are cards that you could put in to make the deck black/white. One with Nothing and Kaervek's Spite both set up for the win while Dimir House Guard can tutor for Academy Rector.
