This is an idea I had a while back about the ability Heroic. I figured "All it says is if you target it. It doesn't say how." Then I figured "Lets burn the opponent. Wait, lets also burn my creatures, making them bigger for later." Thus, Pain Heroes were born.Honestly though, didn't think this deck would turn budget though. That was just happenstance. Keep in mind the Lands are adding money to the total cost.
You can't drop a creature turn one, but you might be able to kill anything they drop, if you do it right. The main thing is to get your heroes, especially Phalanx Leader onto the field and burned with cards, such as Spark Jolt. It'll deal 1 damage to your own creature, but also give it a counter. If you drop Shielded Passage on a creature, it'll get its ability, but then you can drop burn spells to build it but not hurt it for the rest of the turn.If your opponent has a card you don't like, you can use Akroan Conscriptor to take the other creatures, then use Agent of Fates to force them to sac it. Or use Akroan Conscriptor to take it, but then you gotta put up with it after your turn is done.If you have Phalanx Leader and Bloodcrazed Hoplite on the field, never target your Hoplite. It's second ability says "If a counter hits me," so you should aim for the Phalanx Leader instead. Gives you more counters.And everything that targets is an instant, so keep in mind that you can burn/build during their turn as well, which can definitely give you an upper hand.And thats essentially how to play. Not much else to build off of, its a fairly straightforward deck.
