Deck Description

This is my attempt at a Naya Zoo blend.

How to Play

The basic premise is to play creatures and swing. There is a lot more depth going on here then what initially meets the eye. Voice of Resurgence puts a hurting on instant speed, which modern is chuck full of. Smiter is uncounterable. Ghor-Clan Rampager is a fantastic beat to the face, and a pretty stand up dude on his own. All the instant speed damage helps. The Horizon Canopy is a little bit of card advantage that this deck desperately needs.

Deck discussion for my zoo is getting bigger!

you cut alot of the power when you cut the one drops... not sure if you play in alot of tournaments or not, but modern is a fast format, so you want to be quick, if you want to be midrange you need alot more removal to deal with burn, other zoo decks, affinity.
alot of the different cards you picked are good in standard, but not so much in modern. if you want to build some midrange try vexing shusher, ensnaring bridge, tarmogoyf, dismember

I was looking at susher today, he may go in the mix. I have had my eye on ensnaring bridge for quite a while now. tarmagoyf is very good with only 1 downside, the price. and as far as dismember goes, it is not good in these zoo decks because of all of the life gain off the fetch and shocklands as it is. What is your thought on 2 more lightning helix for removal? I can pretty easily drop the life's legacy to make room for that. Any other spot removal that doesn't cost me life come to mind? The comment is appreciated for sure!

I have the 1 drop count back up to 12. What do you think? I moved some pieces around.

i think thats solid, the one drop count you have should let you flood the board by turn 3. modern is very much a turn 4 win format. a good sideboard card would be voice of resurgence. put it in against control decks to make more creatures when they cast spells on your turn, it will make them think twice about countering

goyf is expensive. i dont have a playset. i did at one point, but with the value so high it made sense for me to sell/trade them

Cut the stormbreath dragon for more voice of resurgence or goblin guides. He is worth it

I hear what you are saying. Ill give the voice a shot here. It is just pretty nice to have a late game stormbreath out of left field to seal a victory. It is a much better top deck late in the game. But, like I said, I will give it a shot and see how it works. A voice is not usually ever a bad draw. lol

I was thinking about dropping the hedge troll for something with llifelink. The potential options that I can think of are Ajani's Sunstriker, Seeker of the Way, or Fiendslayer Paladin. Any thoughts? I figure any of those would be good against the burn matchup, with Fiendslayer probably being the best. As always, I am open to suggestions!

I like the how to sideboard section. Solid deck! How about some raging ravines?
+1 from me!

I have been trying to get into modern, it seems pretty pricey. I like the deck though, seems like it has a lot of answers in the form of creatures. I think I will try to playtest with this deck and see how it does. You think about throwing in a big finisher like a thundermaw hellkite or something like that?

Thanks for the input! I used to run a couple of stormbreath dragons(simply because I have them and I do not have any of the thundermaw hellkites). With the changes I have made I do not see the need for a 'finisher'. The spot removal and answers in the form of creatures seems to be taking care of business so far! Thanks again for the input. If there is a deck you would like me to take a look at just let me know!

I just played at a Grand Prix trial today:

Round 1: won 2-1 vs rwu delver. All three games very close. Out aggroed my opponent game 1. Lost game 2 to a huge board of pyromancer tokens. Burned out opponent game 3.

Round 2: lost 0-2 vs affinity. Lost game one in like 3 turns. Lost game 2 after mulligan to 6 and getting no hate cards I boarded in.

Round 3: won 2-0 vs burn. Lightning helix is a fantastic card.

Round 4: won 2-0 vs bw tokens. Both games won very easily due to voice of resurgence.

Round 5: won 2-1 vs infect. Tough matchup. Won game 1 due to great aggro hand and relentless pressure. Lost game 2 to a quick 10 poison counters on an unblockable duder. Won game 3 per drawing a ton of removal.

Round 6: me and opponent drew into top 8.

Top 8 round 1: lost 0-2 vs uw tron. Game 1 mulligan to 4. Kept a hand with 1 land and three lightning helix and still made a game of it. Lost game 2 per just could not keep the pressure up.

To sum it up I think I need to get a little bigger and put in a board wipe. I will update the deck list when done.
